Who am I?
I am me! I’m a stay at home mom of two little boys. We will call them Froot Loop and Cocoa Puff. I’m married to the world’s greatest guy, Honey Graham. We have two sweet, crazy dogs. Let’s call them Crunch Berry and Lucky Charm. We live in a small town in the Texas Hill Country.
My boys take up most of my time of course. I’m hoping to do this writing thing during naptime if they cooperate and give me an hour or two of good napping! We are active members of our church. I love music. I love playing music and I can play several different instruments. I enjoy creating things, whether it be cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, soapmaking, crochet, jewelry, crafting, writing, or something totally different. I recently got into Bible journaling, but I’m not very consistent about it. I generally feel better about myself and life in general if I have time to create.
I am very much into science and math and logic. I have a strong background in math and science as well as communication studies and computers/programming.
I am also considered “green.” We recycle and repurpose. I try to use Earth-friendly products. I’m not obsessive about it, but we try...
Although I look nothing like a runner, I love fitness and running. I regularly do yoga too. I’ve run several races including a half marathon or two. I have way too much of a sweet tooth and I eat too many carbs.
Coloring and reading are two other things I enjoy. I LOVE the grown up coloring books and I probably spend too much time with them and my colored pencils, markers, and gel pens. I also enjoy a good Netflix marathon, especially Gilmore Girls, Friends, 30 Rock, random Food Network shows, etc.
I am terrible at cleaning and I often get days behind on the laundry and dishes. There’s often a layer of dust and/or dog hair on my floor. But, that’s usually because I’d rather spend the time coloring or playing or watching a movie with the boys.
I’ll be the first to tell you that I struggle with anxiety and depression. Both of my pregnancies, especially Cocoa Puff’s were miserable for me. Post partum depression turned nearly into post partum psychosis with Froot Loop, and I was smart enough to get help right away when I felt those same things resurfacing with Cocoa Puff. I don’t let these mental issues define me, but they are definitely part of me and I will likely struggle with them for the rest of my life. I’m hoping by talking about it, I’ll help make discussing mental health and getting HELP for it as common as complaining about the cold or flu.
We are serious science fiction fans. We’re Trekkies and Whovians, but we love all things scifi. We also love to travel and have fun together. We have extended family all over the country.
Honey Graham does amazing things with computers. He is an expert in computers and technology. He’s my life partner and my best friend and he always supports me no matter what crazy idea I’ve come up with. It was love at first sight and we’ve been crazy about each other ever since.
The little monsters are an adventure.
Froot Loop is a rambunctious, active, spirited preschooler with his own opinions and strong emotions. He is often in his own world. Some days it is a challenge to be a calm, cool, and collected mama to him, but he is the sweetest, smartest, most curious, most adventurous kid there is. He learns so quickly and sometimes it’s hard for his brain to keep up. We are learning together. His creativity and imagination astound me daily.
His little brother, Cocoa Puff, is the happiest little boy I’ve ever seen. He’s a snuggly, goofy, funny, silly little squirt. He loves the world and loves people and loves new things. He’s always on the move and whenever he hears music, he turns into a dance machine. He wants nothing more than to do whatever his big brother is doing and loves playing with him.
Those three guys are my world.
We also have two, well, unique, dogs.
Crunch Berries is a rescue mutt with her own set of issues. She’s getting older now but she’s a great dog. She’s great with the boys and she’s just a good dog. Spoiled. She’s never been known to turn down a nearly empty peanut butter jar.
Lucky Charm has his own path. He’s a free spirit who followed Honey Graham home one day and he’s been with us ever since. He’d rather be outside because we have too many rules inside, but if he had his way, he’d be curled up on the couch with us. The backyard is filled with partially chewed up rugs and sticks and other treasures he’s found in the yard. His howling along with the ambulance and police/fire sirens still makes me laugh every time.
This blog is a learning experience for me. I’ll be making it up as I go along. The plan is to write about our everyday adventures, favorite things, goofy/silly/crazy items I run across, etc. but I’m open to ideas! I will post tutorials as I have time too. Qapla'!
