The Essential Oil I Use For Practically Every Ailment You Can Imagine

I'm relatively new to the world of essential oils, but once I started using them, I started swearing by them! I use them for about everything now. I am getting over a horrible allergy fit with a lot of coughing. I used a bunch of essential oils combined with cough syrup (the good stuff too, since Cocoa Puff stopped nursing) and it's nearly gone!

I'm a big believer in essential oils. The first time I tried tea tree essential oil was then I stepped into a fire ant colony and had hundreds of ant bites on my foot, ankle, and leg. Nothing worked to relieve the pain. Finally, a friend suggested tea tree oil. She said that if I could stand it, put a drop directly onto each bite. I ended up just smearing the oil all over because I wasn't going to take the time to drop onto each bite. Normally you dilute the oil with a carrier oil such as olive, coconut, etc., but the bites were bad enough to warrant using it "neat". I'll tell you, within a week, the bites were nearly gone. The pain was going away and the swelling went way down. I ended up with no scars either.

Since that incident, I have used tea tree oil for practically everything and I tell everyone else to use it too. I have gone through several bottles of various brands, and this one is one of the better ones. It's strong and it works well.

Then, not too long ago, Froot Loop stepped into an ant colony while picking flowers. Within seconds, he was covered in ants and ant bites. Poor kid. We gave him a bath with tea tree oil and also put tea tree oil directly on the bites. That combined with some antihistamine for little kids seemed to really help him recover quickly.

Tea tree oil does have a weird and unusual smell that takes a little getting used to. I don't even notice it anymore.

I use this oil diluted with olive oil, aloe, and water for a diaper rash solution. It works amazingly well. I put tea tree oil on blisters and scrapes and cuts. It helps with acne too. It helps with eczema and rashes. I have used it to treat, prevent, and heal toenail fungus, athletes foot, and ringworm. I also put several drops of this oil into the washing machine when I wash cloth diapers or workout clothes. It helps with the smell and also works as an antibiotic/anti fungal. It is useful in eliminating mold and mildew. Some people even use it as a mouthwash for bad breath, gum disease, or mouth infections or sore throat. I tend to not use essential oils internally, but I can see how this would work. Added to a diffuser, it is supposed to give a boost to the immune system.

In the summer, my scalp gets itchy from sweat and just being outside more, so I put a few drops into my shampoo and it really cuts down on the itching.

There are countless uses for it. I did some research and listed some other uses below.

Allergies/ asthma/ congestion/ bronchitis/ coughs/ sinusitis/ sinus infections/ emphysema, arthritis pain/ gout/ inflammation/ bruises, boils, infections (used topically for external and a soak for internal infections), Bunions/ calluses/ corns, burns, canker sores/ cold sores, Carbuncles, Chapped Lips, chicken pox/ shingles/ other blisters, bug bites including mosquitoes, spider, fleas, ants, chiggers, etc., dandruff, dry skin/ itchy skin/ psoriasis/ dermatitis, earache/ ear infection, Head Lice, hives, ingrown hair or toenails, jock itch/ other fungal infection, mumps/ rubella, insect and pest repellant, warts, scabies, sciatic pain, seborrhea (dandruff, cradle cap), sore muscles/ strains/ sprains, stye, thrush, viral infections and more.

It really is like a miracle worker. Between tea tree oil and breast milk, there’s nothing I can’t cure! I’m invincible! Before discovering tea tree oil, I used hydrogen peroxide and triple antibiotic ointment. I have since discovered that hydrogen peroxide is HORRIBLE for you and actually kills all the good bacteria and organisms that help heal. Oops. I also don’t really like putting petroleum products on my skin, so this helps me avoid the petroleum in the triple antibiotic ointment (I still keep some in the house, but I don’t automatically rush for it first thing). Plus, now that I'm no longer lactating, I don't have that liquid gold available at the ready (Just a few bags are left in the freezer).

Have you tried tea tree oil? What do you use it for?

I love this stuff! We started using it about 17 years ago then started using it with hot spots on my dog about 3 years ago. It's like a miracle oil!
