Pot-a-pan: Review of Melissa & Doug's Stainless Steel Pots & Pans Pretend Play Toys

We have tons of play food and kitchen stuff in our play area. It’s one of Cocoa Puff and Froot Loop’s favorite activities.
Melissa and Doug has tons of fun kitchen sets. We also have a Melissa and Doug kitchen. We had a handful of plates and cups and plastic pots and pans that we’ve collected from various places, but I wanted a nice quality, non-plastic set to go with the high quality kitchen. Froot Loop got the Melissa and Doug Stainless Steel Playset for Christmas a few years back.
The set includes a stainless steel colander, pot with lid (the lid works on the pot or the pans), 2 pans, and rack. It also has 2 wooden utensils. This whole set I could actually use in my kitchen if I wanted to. In fact, I think that this set was used as one of the sabotages on Food Network’s Cutthroat Kitchen (a HILARIOUS show, if you’ve never seen it. Alton Brown is hilarious.) The pieces are all dishwasher safe and store neatly in the stainless steel rack.
This is one of the highest quality pots and pans sets I’ve ever seen, but I would expect nothing less from the Melissa and Doug brand. The pots and pans have been banged around, used in the bathtub, even thrown around outside and you can’t even tell. There’s not even a scratch on them. The stainless steel pot is probably the same quality as my giant stainless steel spaghetti pot! Plus, I wish I had a colander as nice as theirs!
The pots and pans work very well in the Melissa and Doug kitchen. I believe they were designed to be used together. We still have the smaller plastic kitchen since I haven’t gotten around to donating it yet, and the pots and pans are a little too big for it, especially anything that goes in the tiny oven. They do work okay on the stove.
What material are your pots and pans made of?
