Mmm mmm, smells yummy: Grapefruit Essential Oil

Grapefruit oil smells amazing. I mix it with Lavender sometimes and sometimes with orange. I also mix it with lemongrass for a really awesome smelling mix. Essential oils are good for many things.
The oil smells great and is a good quality. It works well in a diffuser as well as in soaps and bath products. I even put a few drops just around the house for a quick pick me up smell. I'm very pleased with this oil and use it all the time!
Grapefruit oil is a newer one for me. I discovered it in a cute little shop in Austin while shopping one day. They had a grapefruit scented lotion that I tried and it was just delicious smelling! So, I went home and bought some grapefruit essential oil to make my own!
Actually, one of my favorite places to buy essential oil is Simply Earth. Check them out if you're interested in essential oils.
We all know that grapefruit tastes sour and tangy. Actually, I am not supposed to eat it because of the medications I take. Actually, if you take any prescription or over-the-counter medication, YOU may want to check and make sure you can ingest grapefruit as it affects the absorption rate of some medicines and can cause overdose!! So if you use grapefruit essential oil, use it sparingly (typical use likely will not cause any problems).
The smell of grapefruit is uplifting and energizing. I like to diffuse it combined with sweet orange to make the whole house smell happy! You can also use it in a “focus” blend to give your mind clarity.
You’ve probably seen someone eating grapefruit at one time or another while on a diet. Grapefruit is very good for digestion and metabolism.
Grapefruit oil is also good for small blemishes and abrasions. It helps them heal. Use it at night or about 12 hours before sun exposure as it can increase the risk of sunburn when freshly applied.
One of my favorite blends to spritz around the house is sweet orange, grapefruit, and lavender. It just smells really good. I have made lavender grapefruit soap before as well. Other oils that it blends well with are Frankincense, Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Peppermint, Rosemary, Lime, Lemon, and Bergamot.
Like many other essential oils, grapefruit oil is antiseptic, antiviral and antimicrobial. It also has antidepressant, anti-anxiety, and anti-appetite qualities.
Basically, it’s a very useful oil that blends well with others and smells GREAT!
Have you ever eaten plain grapefruit?

I like to diffuse grapefruit essential oil with wintergreen. It smells so good! My 13-year-old daughter actually discovered that combination :) I also like to put a drop grapefruit essential oil (high quality, pure essential oils) in my water along with lemon and orange. It's tasty, refreshing and it helps curb appetite and sugar cravings.
