Review of Nuby Octopus Bath Toy

Cocoa puff loves bath time. One of his favorite bath toys is the Nuby Bathtime Fun Octopus Hoopla.
It was the first bath toy he played with. Froot Loop even tries to steal it from him during bath time. This is usually the first toy Cocoa Puff reaches for in the tub and he plays with it for a long time. He likes to chew on it and grab it and splash with it.
The octopus floats perfectly in the water. It has six legs (so it's really a squid and not an octopus... Pet peeve!) and it balances as it floats. Of course it flips over sometimes, but no big deal. It is made of bpa free, durable pvc plastic (recycle 3). The toy is about 4-5 inches tall and 7 inches wide, making it easy for little hands to grab.
The best thing about this toy is that there are no annoying holes that allow mold growth! Hooray! And also, the toy can easily be cleaned in the dishwasher if needed. I'm all for convenience!
The octopus comes with three little rings that hook onto the tentacles. Cocoa Puff loves to chase these around the tub and then pick them up to chew on them. He also chews on the tentacles. So far he hasn't tried to put the rings onto the tentacles, but Froot Loop has done this over and over. It's too small to really use as a ring toss, but you can sort of use the octopus/squid to “scoop” the rings onto the tentacles! Once Cocoa Puff gets a little better with his fingers, this toy will be great practice for hand/eye coordination and fine motor skills. I would supervise while your baby plays with this as the rings are small enough to fit in the mouth, but even though they've been chewed on plenty, they've never gone completely in his mouth.
Do you try to only buy toys that can be cleaned easily? Have you ever had your bath toys grow mold?
