Piece of Cake! Review of Melissa and Doug's Triple Layer Birthday Party Cake Pretend Toy

Once again, Melissa and Doug came up with a brilliant product that is so much fun and also educational. Today’s toy is the triple layer party cake!

This super fun cake has three tiers! The top tier is just a single piece, but the bottom two tiers each have 4 slices that velcro together. The bottom and the middle tier also velcro together, or you can put one of the mix and match toppings on the bottom layer instead. 

The set comes with eight toppings: 4 hearts and 4 flowers. 4 of them go on the outside of the bottom layer and 4 go on top of the middle layer. You can also find velcro coins from other Melissa and Doug sets to make pepperoni cake or strawberry or jelly beans, etc. 

Also included are a cake plate, serving knife, and candle. The knife makes a crunch sound as it slices the cake pieces apart. 

The top tier sits on top of the middle tier and the candle velcros on top of it. 

This set is great for hand eye coordination, developing cooking and knife skills, and fine motor skill development. 

Like other Melissa and Doug play sets similar to this, we’ve also used the toppings for math skills such as patterns, addition, and more.
