Fixin’ to Eat: Southern Cooking for the Southern at Heart Review

Y'all probably know by now that we live in Texas. What you may not know is that I didn't grow up here. In fact, I spent the first 24 years of my life as a Northerner! One of the things I love the most about living in the South is the FOOD! Oh, there's some AMAZING food down here...
While I've gotten a ton of good recipes from my Southern friends and family, I recently came across a cookbook filled with Southern Cooking recipes. There's Breakfast, Appetizers, Main Dishes, Side Dishes, Desserts, and even some Drink recipes.
In case you're not from the South, there's a nifty introduction page. It made me smile.
I even like the little illustrations that come on some of the pages.
However, these little sketches are the only pictures y'all get. There aren't any actual pictures of the food, which really, is the only thing I can think of that would make this cookbook any better.
This cookbook includes a bunch of recipes that are staples here in the South, including:
- Homestyle classics like Honey Cola Ham, Apple Cider Pork Roast, and Sweet Cornbread,
- Prized family favorites like Baked Beans with Bacon, Squash Casserole, and Pimento Cheeseburgers,
- Party-ready innovations like Kentucky Hot Brown Ham Sliders, Potato Salad Stacks, and Tarragon Goat Cheese Deviled Eggs,
- Amazing desserts like Peach Bread Pudding, Self-Crust Coconut Pie, and Blackberry Crumble,
- Plus special bonus sections on pairing libations like beer, wine, and spirits with all your favorite Southern foods.
So, if you're looking for a unique cookbook, or looking to expand your cooking library with some tasty Southern classics, then this is the cookbook for you! You can find it HERE
Are y'all from the South? Where are YOU from?
