I’ve found a new line of toys that both of my boys absolutely love, although Froot Loop doesn’t seem to understand that they are Cocoa Puff’s toys and he gets first dibs on them. Being a 3 year old sure is tough!

Anyway, Cocoa Puff got a few VTech Go! Go! Wheels trucks for Valentine’s Day and Easter from my parents. He got a cute 3 car train, an SUV with vehicle hauler, and a big rig tanker truck! Each of them work just fine without the “smart points” that come on the sets and the track. The pieces to these vehicles come apart and join together very easily. Cocoa Puff can’t put them back together, but Froot Loop can.

You push the button on the front of the car, and the vehicle says or sings various phrases. They are easy for little hands to drive around. The songs aren’t super annoying, but for some reason, the police car drives me batty. They also talk about letters and different things that that specific vehicle does (like hauling freight, carrying cargo, etc.), so it's even slightly educational. They're also great for developing fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. They appeal to multiple senses as well: sight, sound, and touch.

So far, we have the train, SUV, and tanker truck listed above, a cement truck, a taxi, a police car, two race cars, a hot rod, airplane, ambulance, fire truck, car, van, convertible, and the convertible with camper.

The companions to the wheels are the Go! Go! Smart Animals. These are extremely cute and both sets are compatible with each other. We have put cars on the animals sets and animals on the car sets and they work together. The alligator is very goofy. When I want to end a discussion, I sing the alligator swim song (I’m an alligator, I like to swim. Watch me as I dive on in. CHOMP!)

We have the alligator, donkey, terrier, cat, other dog, mama and baby cow, brown cow, goat, chicken, rooster, pig, another chicken, another cow, and baby chicken.

The extra fun part about these toys is the playsets and the tracks that you can buy separately. Cocoa Puff has the repair shop, racing ramp, doggie house, chicken coop, and two sets of tracks- the wheels one and the animals one. I also got him a launching pad. There are “smart points” on the sets and tracks that make the cars and animals say specific things to that smart point. There’s a series of little buttons on the bottom of each car/animal and different combinations of buttons are pushed on different smart points to make them say the different phrases or songs. That’s pretty awesome. So when the dog is in the doghouse, it says something about being happy to be home. When a car is in the repair shop getting fueled up, it sings about getting gasoline.

The sets take minimal assembly and have detailed instructions that make it pretty easy. There’s even stickers to put on. I remember being so mad that my parents wouldn’t let me put the stickers on my toys because I wouldn’t put them on straight or something. BUT NOW I’M THE ADULT SO I GET TO PUT THE STICKERS ON!

The only real annoying thing about these is that they’re on the loud side. Oh, and also, as is common with VTech toys, they just keep going and going after not being touched for a minute. So don’t touch them unless you really want to hear them for the next several minutes. Don’t trip over them. Don’t step on them. Don’t breathe on them. Don’t even look at them!

Cocoa Puff’s favorite thing to do right now is to rip the ramps off the repair shop and the racing ramp. He hasn’t quite figured out how to align the cars and animals onto the smart points, but he does like pushing the buttons and driving them around. He has figured out how to drop them down the ramps too.

The repair shop has 5 different smart points. There’s a car wash, the repair area, the lift, the gassing area, and the garage. There’s also several areas to add additional track. The ramp is fun. I would recommend this as a starter set. It comes with a cool hot rod too!

The 3-in-1 Launch and Play Raceway is a lot of fun too. Cocoa Puff loves sending the cars down the ramp. He also loves to destroy the ramp and take it apart. As the name implies, there’s three different ways to set up the ramp. There’s the super long “double” ramp, the stacked ramp with jump, and the two side-by-side ramps. Each launcher has a smart point and it comes with a race car. The little jump at the bottom is a lot of fun and it makes Cocoa Puff laugh every time. He is able to operate it himself, which is pretty cool!

The doghouse is adorable. I highly, highly recommend this one as your starter set. Cocoa Puff got it for his birthday along with the dog and cat vehicles. The doghouse comes with a cute terrier dog and it makes us laugh because it talks about having a ton of energy and digging up the yard. There’s a smart point inside the dog house, and there’s another one in the swing next to the house. It’s really cute. There’s a couple of places to add additional track. There’s also tons of different things to play with like a clicking, rotating bird in a tree, a little loop with beads, a switch that goes up and down for the mailbox, an opening and closing side door, an opening and closing front door, and two hide and seek lifting things. I love it. Cocoa Puff loves it. Froot Loop loves it. It is adorable.

The Fast Track Launcher is a mix for me. I love that it pushes cars and “launches” them down the track, but the launcher doesn’t work as well as I was hoping. It is very generic in that it comes with a few starter pieces, but really you can set up any track with it. There’s two smart points on it… one on each “wing” of the launcher. When you use the pieces included in the box, one side is a little jump and the other side is a “crash” area. The launcher itself does not attach to the track, but it “locks” into three different positions to launch the vehicles down three different tracks. It also includes a race car. This race car is a different color, but it says the same things as the other color race car that we got in the 3-in-1. This set is NOT one to use as a standalone or a starter set. It works best as an expansion pack since you get several different pieces of track with it. Overall, I’m not too impressed with it, but I guess the set itself is about as expensive as just buying another car.

The deluxe track includes 30 pieces of track (NO VEHICLES) and has 3 smartpoints. It has a variety of curved and straight pieces. The pieces are compatible with the wheelies and the animal sets and track. There’s infinite ways to set up the track. I got frustrated with the pieces because once I connected them to the repair shop, launcher, dog house, and racing ramp, I still had two pieces left over! I don’t really get why there has to be all these male to male or female to female pieces, because it’s frustrating for toddlers and even preschoolers to build the track that way. It was frustrating for even me, and I have a physics degree!

The Smart Animals Deluxe Track Set has 27 track pieces, a swing, and two accessory pieces. There’s a really cool bridge in this set. There’s a palm tree that connects to one of the curved pieces. There’s also a road block that makes the animals go a certain direction. This set has 4 smart points! They match up with the other track and playsets perfectly and have a lot of the same pieces as the Vehicles Deluxe track. There are no stickers to apply to this one as there are cute little paw prints along the track instead of the dashed lines. This set also has female to female or male to male pieces.

The Chicken Coop Playset is hilarious. It has 2 smartpoints. It comes with a chicken (the same chicken that is sold separately, so don’t buy that one too and end up with TWO of them like we did) and a rocking weeble-like baby chicken. There’s a launcher on the top of the chicken coop that sends the chickens down the slide! The slide attaches to other playsets, as does the standalone smartpoint. The little chick sits in the next and there’s also an adorable turning sun/moon on the little house. The chicken itself makes me laugh. She’s really funny.

I just found these special edition Nation Flags vehicles. There’s a UK bus with the UK flag on it and a race car with the US flag on it. I got it because it’s AWESOME!

Both of the kids love playing with these sets. I think they’re a lot of fun too. Froot Loop gets to play with them when Cocoa Puff is napping, but otherwise, they are really for Cocoa Puff to play with. Froot Loop is better able to maneuver the cars and animals around the tracks and the playsets, so I let him play with that part sometimes while Cocoa Puff is playing with the vehicles and animals and driving them around the floor. I love that about these: they’re fun all by themselves but even more fun with the track and play sets.

I set up all of the track yesterday and connected the doghouse, chicken coop, repair center, launcher, and racing ramps to it. We had a pretty big neighborhood going there! It was so much fun playing with the boys.

I also love that these sets will grow with the boys and I’m sure they will be playing with them for years! I have even put several other sets and vehicles and animals on Cocoa Puff’s wishlist for Christmas.

You can use other cars on the tracks too. We’ve used Little Wheelie’s cars and Hotwheels on the track too.

I also noticed there are some Smart Friends sets that also connect with these other tracks. I’m interested in the Checkup Clinic because there’s Doctor Doug! We have a Doctor Doug here in our town!

In short, there’s so many ways to play with these toys, and they’re reasonably priced and interact with each other in brilliant ways. I’m hoping to collect a lot of these sets for the boys!

So tell me, do you like the animals or the vehicles sets better?

love these toys!! least annoying talking toys we have. I can't stand the tracks though. They never stay together and I want to get rid of them. Plus I ALWAYS have left over parts... what is that about?!
