If you love waffles, you'll love today's review of this pretend waffle maker set!

I think one of Froot Loop’s favorite foods is waffles. He often asks for frozen waffles when I take him grocery shopping with me. Melissa and Doug make a cute waffle maker set, and Froot Loop has it.
The waffle iron is very easy to use. Even Cocoa Puff has learned how to use it. All you need to do is put the waffle in the waffle iron, close the lid, and turn the dial. Voila! Pretend waffles! Then you can add your toppings: butter, syrup, chocolate chips, and/or strawberries!
And it's SO MUCH FUN!
Froot Loop has so much fun with this. He makes waffles for us all the time. Of course, he puts the chocolate chips on his and the strawberries on mine, but that works for me. Then he asks Daddy for chocolate chips on his real waffles! He does not like syrup though, and won’t even put the pretend syrup on his pretend waffles!
Sometimes he makes waffles AND pancakes (see pancake post HERE)!
This set includes a painted wooden waffle iron, knife, 4 pieces of “sliceable” waffle with velcro, 4 portions of syrup, sliceable butter (again, velcro), 4 chocolate chips, and 4 strawberry toppings. The toppings all attach to the waffle with velcro, and there is velcro on the waffle pieces too.
The dial on the waffle iron actually turns, which is pretty cool. Very realistic and lifelike!
The box that comes with it is a nice place to store the pieces. We have lost ours, though…
The wooden knife that’s included actually works to “slice” the waffle and the butter into the individual pieces. This is great pretend play for practice doing the real thing.
Froot Loop loves to cook the waffles and then serve them to us. We use our pretend plates and everything. Then he takes everything apart and starts over again. We also mix and match toppings from other melissa and doug sets. I’ve had jellybean waffles, mushroom waffles, blueberry waffles, and birthday cake waffles!
This is a fun way to work on hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, patterns, matching, and just pretend play!
Do you like pancakes or waffles better?
