Toot Your Own Horn: Review of this Awesome Musical Toy For Kids Called the Saxoflute

Product: Saxoflute

We visited a local science museum not too long ago using a couple gift cards we got for Christmas. Since we had a little left on the cards and we decided that our boys were still a little too young to really get a whole lot out of the museum, we let them pick out a few things in the gift store. One of the things they picked out was this fun music toy.

Now I Trace My ABCs: A Prewriting, Fine Motor Skills, Letter Recognition Book for Toddlers & Preschool Kids

Froot Loop has known his letters for quite some time now. His preschool teachers are pretty impressed with him and we've been joking about Gifted and Talented placement. The main thing is that we’re working on prewriting skills because his fine motor skills are about 2 years behind! Those skills include drawing, finger strength, and the actual shapes of the letters. Tracing is a great prewriting skill, both with a writing instrument and just using a finger. We’ve tried to encourage him to write letters in sand/rice/etc., but he doesn’t quite have the hang of it just yet, and also due to his sensory issues, these activities are hit and miss. This book is perfect for that in between stage.

Stack Attack! Review of Fisher Price's Stack & Explore Blocks Toy for Baby

Brand: Fisher Price Product: Stack and Explore Blocks

We have several sets of stacking blocks here. We have circles, stars, bowls, cups, etc. Cocoa Puff was given these stacking blocks and so we added them to our arsenal. It is a set of 5 brightly colored blocks that nest inside each other as well as stack. They are a little harder to stack than the circles since you have to line up the sides.

Greenage: Hape Toys Pretend Play Wood & Felt Salad Set For Kids (A Review)

Brand: Hape Product: Salad Set

Froot Loop got a play salad set from Hape for Christmas last year. He went through a salad phase when he would eat a lot of lettuce, so Santa Claus thought he would love this pretend salad set that he could eat over and over and over again!

Stack and roll, Rock and roll: The Present (That He LOVES) My Son Got From a Mathematician

Brand: Fisher Price Product: Brilliant Basics Stack and Roll Cups

One of our favorite toys we got last Christmas was the Fisher Price Briliant Basics Stack and Roll Cups. My mathematician aunt got these for Cocoa Puff, and as a physics major, I totally approve! I would approve even if I wasn’t a total math nerd though.

Camping camping: A DOUBLE review of two Pretend Camping Set Toys

Product: Two campsets

One of our favorite things to do is go camping. We haven't done it nearly as much since Cocoa Puff was born, but we have taken Froot Loop a few times. The plan is to start camping again with both of them in the spring, before it starts getting too hot.

A Double Review of Android Boxes: The Android Equivalent to Roku or Apple TV, Chromecast, or the Fire Stick

We are very into technology around here. The 4 year old already knows his way around a tablet and the basics of a Linux computer. The 1 year old can already use a mouse. We feel that technology is a part of us and is all around us and is an invaluable tool that they will need to master at a very young age. No worries, they still have books and play outside and have lots of toys that don't require batteries. Everything in moderation. That being said, we bought two different Android boxes to try to find one for Froot Loop to use.

Pop Lock and Drop It: Anyone Else Remember These Snap Lock Beads? My Kids Love Them!

Brand: Fisher Price Product: Snap Lock Beads

Here's another example of how sometimes, the most basic of toys are sometimes the best. Fisher Price has a line of toys called Brilliant Basics, some of which have been around seemingly forever, that are just simple toys - no lights, no sound, etc. While we love toys with lights and sound, we also love toys that are quiet and simple.
