A Dinoriffic Day: How I threw an AMAZING & Sweet Dinosaur Themed First Birthday Party for my Son

I can’t believe it’s been two months since Cocoa Puff’s first birthday party! I decided on a dinosaur theme since he’s my little snugglesaurus. We ended up having a super fun day!
I picked out some favors for older kids since the majority of them were over the age of 3. I also thought about putting some on the cake. These little dinos are really cute!
I got some inspiration from this big dino book.
I bought this dino toy box to use as a present/card box. We have several of the Neat-Oh Zip bins and they’re pretty awesome.
For a fun decoration, I ordered a few inflatable dinosaurs that I could then hang in Cocoa Puff’s room when he moves in there later. This one is a brachiosaurus!
I bought these highly rated jumbo dinosaurs to use as balloon weights!
These cute wall stickers will make nice wall decorations. I used them on the plain tablecloths and they looked awesome.
Here is another dinosaur book for inspiration.
Every party needs balloons! I found some dinosaur balloons to add to the balloon bundles. Oh, balloons. So cheap and yet always so popular. No worries, I was careful with them around the little guys.
I put some tattoos into the goodie bags.
Here’s an inflatable triceratops!
Although Cocoa Puff is still on the young side for this dino puzzle, he got it for his birthday. It's super cute and he loves to hold onto the chunky pieces.
Here is an inflatable t-rex! Oooh, scary!
I have these dinosaur scene setters. They made a fun photo opportunity. I can hang them in his room when he's older.
Here is another dinosaur book! I didn't put this out for the party, but he got it for his birthday!
This is a fun dinosaur book that was also a birthday gift.
We love magnets in this house. We have them all over! I bought these dinosaur magnets and put them on our easel just for fun.
I bought this plush triceratops for a present, and holy cow it is CUTE! See my review [HERE]
Cocoa Puff got this plush brachiosaurus from the Easter Bunny! I put it out as a table decoration. It is too cute.
This is a plush stegosaurus. I don’t think we need any more stuffed animals, but I have a soft spot for stegosaurus, so he got it for his birthday anyway.
I bought three National Geographic dinosaurs triceratops to use as centerpieces. I bought a triceratops, a stegosaurus, and a T-rex! I’m pretty impressed with these sets. They all come with a detailed informational booklet (which Cocoa Puff didn’t care about of course), and a real piece of fossilized dinosaur poop! Froot Loop especially thought that was hilarious. They are more like action figures than just figurines. They have moving parts and are hand painted. They were a huge hit!
This is the stegosaurus. He’s so cute, if dinosaurs can be cute.
T-rex! I never understood why all the boys in my class went all bonkers over the t-rex. I wasn’t ever a huge fan. They just seemed mean to me. And they were scary.
I bought cookie cutters because I had every intention of making dino cookies, but time got away from me so I just used them as a decoration instead.
LOOK! I found a cake topper! I didn't end up using it because I made my own!
These fun plastic dinosaur cups held the goodies for the favor boxes.
This is the tableware I picked out. Not too scary and yet not too cute either. Perfect for a little boy’s first birthday party!
Here are the table decorations we used. We had awesome looking tables, although I probably didn’t need to buy these.
I have a “thing” for the hanging swirls. I have some for every holiday and every party. I have quite a collection now. I put them out for the holidays and the ones from the parties are just hanging on the wall in Froot Loop’s room since he likes to look at them. For a long time, they were hanging from the light on his fan, but then they became too much of a distraction so we had to move them.
One last inflatable dinosaur! It’s a stegosaurus! It’s huge! This one was the favorite.
I decided that the older kiddos would decorate their own cupcakes. My awesome mother-in-law made some delicious gluten free cupcakes for us and the kiddos had a blast decorating them.
I had invitations and thank you notes too, and a bunch of other random stuff I found on etsy. We go all out on birthday parties here, especially 1st birthday parties! I was very excited. I enjoy planning birthday parties for my kiddos.
Since it was so hot, I even brought our 200 gallon pool for the kiddos to play in.
I have already started planning Froot Loop's Thomas the Tank Engine party! That's what he decided he wants. It will be fun for sure.
Did you have a theme for your kiddo's first birthday?
