Amazon 2016 Toy List for 5-7 Year Olds

Amazon.com has released their 2016 Holiday Toy Lists! I've already done the younger ages, and now this one is my favorites from the ages 5-7 list!
Scientific Explorer My First Mind Blowing Science Kit
- 20 piece kit allows your young scientist to explore and learn the basics of science from chemical reactions to the use of science tools
- Represents STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) principles – open ended toys to construct, engineer, explorer and experiment
- Chemicals Included: Red cabbage powder, citric acid, baking soda, 3 color tablets, crosslinked polyacrylate copolymer, vegetable oil, corn starch
- Supplies Included: 2 cotton swabs, 3 test tubes with stand, 3 plastic cups, pipette, 2 sticks, 2 measuring scoops and activity guide
It is very important to introduce science at a young age. This looks like it is a great, fun, and educational first science set for kiddos!
Fisher-Price Think & Learn Code-a-pillar
- Find! letter identification, categorization, objects and properties
- Kids connect the segments to make Code-A-Pillar go forward, left, right or wherever they choose
- Each segment lights up as the action happens!

- Can you reach the target? Challenge kids to configure the segments so Code-A-Pillar can get to the targets
Honey Graham is most likely getting this for Froot Loop for Christmas. He's a life-long computer programmer, and this is a brilliant way to teach young minds how to think like a programmer, because it most definitely is a different way of thinking. I like that this also has add on sets to get your code-a-pillar to do even more fun and wacky things.

Hot Wheels! Yeah! I remember playing with these constantly as a kid. Froot Loop has already amassed quite a collection of cars and I plan on giving him my old track for Christmas so we can set up elaborate race tracks like my Dad and I used to. Those are some of my favorite memories! This track looks like a fun way to play with the cars too, although I hope that the crashing doesn't ruin the cars!
Qixels S3 3D Maker
- Blast them with Water and Watch the Qixels Fuse
- Create the coolest 3D Qixel Figures
- Design Templates Included
- Build them up and build them out and start building a 3D Qixel World
This is really interesting! This is sort of an introduction to the world of 3-D building and printing! It also looks like 3-D Minecraft, so I think it would appeal to Minecraft fans too!
LINCOLN LOGS – 100th Anniversary Tin - 111 All-Wood Pieces
- A LINCOLN LOGS CLASSIC, JUST THE WAY YOU REMEMBER IT – Inspired by one of the original LINCOLN LOGS builds, the "Meeting House," this 100th Anniversary Tin will evoke nostalgia in older generations and bring happiness to children. The manual offers three building ideas: a tall tower, two small houses with a bonfire, and a large cabin. Children can follow these guides or mix and match to build their own structures.
- 111 ALL-WOOD PIECES – The package includes 111 pieces made of real, high-quality maple wood. Each has indentations that can be used to connect it with others. Pieces are included for the roof, roof facade, walls, chimney, porch, fences, bonfire, and bonfire seats.
- COLORFUL DESIGN – These exquisitely crafted LINCOLN LOGS are beautifully stained, like a true cabin’s finish. Each piece is colored with precision and careful attention to detail to evoke the nostalgia of childhood. Most of the log blocks are stained bright brown. The face of the roof is a muted red, and the rooftops are forest-green.
- EASY AND QUICK CLEAN-UP – All the pieces can be stored in the set’s collectible tin. The features make clean-up easier, as parents can store it in one container, keeping living spaces and children’s playing areas tidy and organized. The covered tin can be stored after play time for safe keeping.
- AMERICA’S NATIONAL TOY– Invented in 1916 by John Lloyd Wright, the son of architect Frank Lloyd Wright, LINCOLN LOGS have become America’s National Toy. Beloved by four generations of builders, they provide hours of fun while building a solid foundation in STEAM/STEM subjects.
There's not much to say about Lincoln Logs. I still have all of my sets and I plan on introducing the boys to them in the near future!
Zoomer Kitty, Interactive Cat
- Zoomer Kitty is the PURRfect friend! She’s the sweetest interactive kitty who loves to play, pounce and purr!

- This soft and cuddly Pikachu is 10" tall
- Features out 10 sounds and phrases!

Huffy Bicycle Company #22726 Star Wars Episode VII Bike, 12-Inch
- 12" Boys bike with coaster brakes
- Training wheels
- Star Wars Episode 7 handlebar feature
Every little kid needs a bike at some point. 5-7 years old is the perfect time for a first bike. I remember getting mine. It was a purple and pink Huffy.
Littlest Pet Shop Pet Shop Playset
- Includes 3 pets
- Playset fits up to 30 pets (additional pets sold separately)
- Play out all kinds of stories with fun pets and accessories
- Customize pets and playset with Deco Bits pieces and stickers
- Includes unassembled playset, pet, 2 pet friends, emoji bubble, 9 accessories, 2 Deco Bits pieces, sticker sheet, and instructions
I had the original Littlest Pet Shop as a kid, and I had TONS of them. I found a few sets of them in my parent's basement last time I was there. I'm not a huge fan of the rebooted sets, but they are kind of cute and it's an easy thing to collect. This looks like a great starter set.
Crayola Finding Dory Art Kit
- 20 washable Pip-Squeaks Skinnies
- 6 Twistables Crayons
- 6 Twistables Colored Pencils
- 10 coloring sheets with line art
- AP Certified nontoxic
Most kiddos love to color. This looks like a fun set!
Learning Resources Pretend & Play Calculator Cash Register
- Real-working solar-powered cash register with LCD screen is the perfect addition to any pretend store
- Encourages children to learn basic math, essential money skills, and functional calculator use during play while enhancing imaginative play, ringing up sales, and making change
- Large buttons are easy for little hands to press and cash drawer makes a “cha-ching” sound when it opens, just like a real register
- Features a built-in, eco-friendly solar calculator and includes 30 actual-size pretend US bills, 40 plastic coins, pretend credit card, and Activity Guide
- Part of the Pretend & Play line that fosters healthy early childhood development by helping kids interpret and imitate the world around them
Froot Loop, at age 4, is just starting to learn about money and spending it and saving it. He often tries to play pretend checkout but we don't have a cash register. I think when he's a little older, this is a good way to introduce that concept to him.
That about wraps up the list for 5-7 years old. Stay tuned for the other lists for older kids!
How old were you when you got your first bicycle?
