Holy Roundup Post, Batman! Good News Everyone: These are the Games You Are Looking For: SciFi Board Games for Family Game Night

We love Scifi in this house. We also love playing games. I found some games that combine the best of both of these worlds.

This turned out to be a much longer post than I anticipated, but I found a ton of games (almost 50!) that I now need to add to my wishlist!

Star Trek:

Five Year Mission:

You are about to begin your 5-year mission aboard the USS Enterprise. You can crew the classic Enterprise NCC-1701 or the next generation NCC 1701-D. You and your fellow crewmates must cooperate to resolve dangerous situations that threaten to destroy your ship. If you fail, you all lose.

Panic:

Star Trek panic is a cooperative game where players take on the roles of the original crew members of the USS Enterprise. To win the game, players must successfully complete five missions and then clear any remaining threats from the game board, all while keeping at least one section of the hull of the ship intact. If at any point all six sections of the Enterprise are destroyed, players lose the game.

Ascendancy:
Ascend the final frontier as you take control of legendary races and fleets with unique perks and strategies. Navigate new space lane to traverse and build the game board to ensure each play through is different.

Risk:
Q has brought together Captains Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway and Archer to see which of them would be the best commander in Starfleet. Join the adventure as you take on the role of a Captain, assemble your away team, command your ships, and complete quests in an epic journey across the galaxy. We got this for Christmas, so after we get a chance to play it, I'll let you know how we liked it!

Road Trip:
As a new recruit at Starfleet Academy you'll engage in a challenging competition with your classmates as you vie for an internship position aboard the USS Enterprise.

Trivial Pursuit:
Boldly celebrate 50 years of Star Trek when you answer 1,200 questions from all 5 Star Trek television shows and the first 10 Star Trek movies. Categories include: Crew Members, Locations, Starfleet, Aliens, Ships and Science & Technology. The cards and die store inside a collectible Shuttlecraft case. We also got this for Christmas, and some of the questions are super duper easy, and other ones are REALLY HARD!

Frontiers:

A contested region of space accessible through a known wormhole has drawn the attention of powerful forces throughout the galaxy. Both the Federation and the Klingon Empire, who share a delicate alliance at this time, have recently built outposts in the region. But now news of grave troubles brewing in the region has prompted both the Klingons and the Federation to investigate immediately. Command your ship, recruit new crew members, earn experience points, and use your skills to confront the challenges of the Star Trek Universe. Explore and face a variety of challenges on a randomly built Space Map using the Venture Tile System .

Scene It?:
Explore strange new worlds with a DVD game that's filled with clips, trivia questions, and puzzlers from all of the Star Trek TV series and movies. To seek out new life, new civilizations, just pop the game disc into your DVD player and stay tuned for a universe of trivia! Scene It? Star Trek tests your knowledge with real clips as you answer trivia questions and race around the game board to win!

Star Wars:

Loopin’ Chewie:
Chewbacca is flying in the Millennium Falcon and is on a mission to take all of the Stormtroopers down. Players try to save their Stormtroopers from his reach by flipping him out of the way and trying to get him to take down their opponents' Stormtroopers. Froot Loop got this for Christmas and it's okay. I remember the old Loopin' Louis game being a lot more fun when I was a kid, but this was kind of a letdown for me.

Battleship:

First, players choose to play as the light side or the dark side of the Star Wars saga. Then, they search for their enemy's starships in the Star Wars universe and eliminate them one by one.

Pictopia:

Prove whether you are a Padawan or Jedi Master when your knowledge of STAR WARS is tested with 1,000 questions on the iconic planets, ships, villains, and heroes from a galaxy far, far away.. It's a game of teamwork-with a competitive edge! Sometimes you'll work together and other times answer alone, but you'll wager every time! Home much you risk depends on how well you know your STAR WARS trivia!

Clue:

In this game, it's a period of civil war, and players have managed to sneak onto the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the Death Star! Be the first player to find out which planet Darth Vader plans to destroy next, which room the Death Star plans are hidden in, and which vehicle is the correct escape vehicle. The cards revealing the correct planet, room, and vehicle are placed in the mission folder at the beginning of the game -- no one sees what these are until the end. The player who correctly identifies what's in the folder wins!

Operation:

Who can get BB-8 rolling again? After being rescued on Jakku, BB-8 is on the blink and looking for a steady hand to repair him. Remove his defective droid parts and get him rolling again, but watch out for the buzzer! The game ends when all 12 defective droid parts have been removed. Collect the most droid parts without getting buzzed, to win.

Bop It:

It tells you to do specific actions like pull it, twist it, bop it in random sequence and gets faster as you get better. Froot Loop got this for his 4th birthday last year from his grandma. She thought it would be a great tool to improve his listening skills. So far, that hasn't been the case, but it is a fun game to play.

Catch Phrase:

Can you guess the words from the Star Wars Universe that your teammate is trying to get you to guess? The fast-pass play challenges both teams to give verbal clues and gestures without saying anything in the actual word. The team that scores 7 points first wins, so rack your brains and gather your knowledge of the Force to be the Jedi Master of Catch Phrase!

Trouble:

Give the bubble a pop and move around the board, following BB-8's journey on Jakku. When BB-8 shows up, everyone can move a pawn out of home for a fun and fast-paced game. Be the first player to get all 4 pawns to the finish spaces to win!

X Wing:

X-Wing is a tactical ship-to-ship combat game in which players take control of powerful Rebel X-wings and nimble Imperial TIE fighters, facing them against each other in fast-paced space combat. Select your crew, plan your maneuvers, and complete your mission!

Rebellion:

In Star Wars: Rebellion, you control the entire Galactic Empire or the fledgling Rebel Alliance. You must command starships, account for troop movements, and rally systems to your cause. Featuring more than 150 plastic figures and two game boards that account for thirty-two of the Star Wars galaxy’s most notable star systems, Star Wars: Rebellion features a scope that is as large and sweeping as any Star Wars game before it.

Monopoly:

In this Monopoly game: Star Wars Edition, players move around the board in their favorite ship and embark on a quest to build their own galactic empire. The gameboard features iconic locations from the Star Wars films including Hoth, Tatooine, and Kashyyyk. The game has an added element where players can use the Force to perform special abilities allowing them to do actions such as swap, steal, and collect extra money.

Risk:

This Risk: Star Wars Edition game lets players re-create the dramatic final moments of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Players can determine the fate of the Star Wars universe through 3 concurrent (yet distinct) battles. Choose to play as either the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Empire, and use the classic Risk dice to control characters and ships. The object of the game is to defend or destroy the Death Star. Which side will win: the Galactic Empire or the Rebel Alliance?

Face Off Dice Game:

Grab the collectible dice cup featuring back-to-back sculpted visages of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker and let the dice roll! Rack up points rolling special combos of heroes Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and Luke. Or, push your luck and "Go Sith" to steal the win using the dark side of the Force!

Perplexus: Death Star:

In this Star Wars Edition, you can use Rebel Alliance Squadron tactics to navigate the X-wing Starfighter through the Death Star’s treacherous tunnels and precarious pathways. Its unique shape maximizes visibility as you twist, turn and maneuver through the challenging maze mission. Master the maze and destroy the Death Star! We have several other Perplexus games, and they're definitely a challenge and a lot of fun.

The Force Awakens Duel Card Game:
The fate of the galaxy is in your hands when you play this awesome Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens Duels card game from Hasbro.

Sorry!:

The Millennium Falcon is in hiding while its hyperdrive is being repaired, but the Dark Side is closing in, and the crew is in danger. Players move their pawns -- or droids -- around the Millennium Falcon gameboard as they try to save the Millennium Falcon and help the crew escape. The game includes classic bump-and-jump gameplay and introduces deflector shield tokens that help protect droids in their quest to save the day.

Empire vs. Rebellion:

Take command of the unlimited resources of the Galactic Empire or the heroic men and women of the Rebel Alliance in Star Wars: Empire vs. Rebellion, a tense and fast-paced card game for two players. In every round, you and your opponent match wits and resources as you struggle to emerge victorious from one of the key events of the Galactic Civil War. In the heat of battle, iconic characters like Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader can tip struggles in your favor, even as you carefully craft your overarching strategy to balance momentary losses against ultimate victory!.

Harry Potter:

Hogwarts Battle:

A cooperative deck-building game that is progressive, allowing rich game play experiences to unfold with varying levels of difficulty.

Clue:

A fellow student has seemingly vanished from the famous School of Witchcraft and Wizardry - and it is up to you to solve the mysterious disappearance. Playing as Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Luna or Neville, you must try and discover WHO did it, WHAT spell or item they used and WHERE the student was attacked. Move around Hogwarts making suggestions. But watch out! Wheels on the board will keep changing revealing secret passages, moving staircases or even the Dark Mark! Protection from the Dark Mark comes from the spells, allies and items provided by the Help Cards. When you're sure of your facts go to Dumbledore's office to make your accusation and win the game!

Magical Beasts:

Calling all wizards! magical beasts have broken loose at Hogwarts. That means you and up to three friends need to save everyone by recapturing these fantastic creatures run amok. In this action-packed game, you play as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, or Ginny Weasley. Collect clues to track down creatures both inside and outside Hogwarts! watch out though, moving from Hogwarts to the grounds nearby can be treacherous and cost you clues and precious time.

Lord of the Rings:

Journey to Mordor:

Journey to mordor is a dice game that puts you and your friends in the roles of the four hobbits in the fellowship. Together, you must travel along the route of the fellowship, from bag end to mordor and the mountain of fire itself. Every turn, you'll need to press your luck, battling orcs and staying one step ahead of the nazgûl that pursue you. The player who makes it to mount doom first and destroys the one ring is the winner.

Lord of the Rings: The Board Game:

As players travel through the dangerous Mines of Moria and defend the citadel of Helms Deem they must work together to fight off the growing influence of Sauron. If they falter in their quest just a little they risk succumbing to the growing darkness.

Fellowship of the Ring Deck Building Game:
Take on the role of Frodo, Gandalf, Aragorn or one of their brave and heroic allies in the struggle against the forces of the Dark Lord Sauron. While you begin armed only with basic combat maneuvers, you will add new, more powerful cards to your deck as you go, with the goal of defeating the deadly forces that serve Sauron as you make your way towards Mount Doom. In the end, the player who has accumulated the most victory points from the cards in his or her deck wins the game.

Battle for Middle Earth:

The Hobbit Board Game:

Play as Bilbos dwarf companions guiding the hobbit on his perilous journey to claim Smaugs treasure.. Strategic bidding and intuitive dice-rolling mechanics makes this game great for both family and friends

The Hunger Games:

Training Day:

Each player chooses a district to represent and a gender. The players take the appropriate Tribute Card. Each Tribute Card gives the players ratings from one (low) to eight (high) in four attributes: strength, ability, cunning, and charm. The Challenge deck is shuffled and a player is chosen to go first. The first player reveals a number of Challenge cards equal to the number of players. Each player has three effort tokens: one (low), three (medium), and six (high). Each player, in turn, will assign one effort token face down to any Challenge card. After all the players have assigned their effort tokens, the events on the Challenge cards are resolved. One Challenge card at a time, the effort tokens are revealed and the winner of the event is determined. Each player total one’s own Effort tokens plus the Attribute rating called for by the card, plus alliance bonuses (from Tribute cards not already in play) plus a die roll. The player with the highest total wins the event and the associated approval rating. Three End of Day cards were shuffled into the Event deck at the beginning of the game. When ever an End of Day card is revealed, then all the event cards are shuffled with the End of Days cards. Before the game began the players determine how many days the will last. When that number of End of Day cards has been revealed, then the game is over and the player with highest approval rating is the winner.

JabberJayCard:

Each player represents a District Citizen or Capital Citizen whose identity remains secret during most of the game.  Players attempt to discover each other's identities and ultimately to force their opponents to flee.

Catching Fire: Seeds of Rebellion:
Ever since you were eligible for the Reaping the Peacekeepers had their eye on you - the food supplies that went missing, the graffiti denouncing the Capitol- they had a good idea it was you. Until now, you thought it best to steer clear of open conflict. But, the whispers for volunteers to help the rebellion made it clear it was time for you to take action. When you finally reached the leaders of the rebellion your reputation had preceded you. Glad to have your skills, they immediately assigned you to your current mission- to set up secret bases throughout Panem. If you are successful, your efforts will ensure at least a chance for the rebels to make a difference. Fail and they won't stand a chance…

Battlestar Galactica:

Battlestar Galactica, the Board Game:
After the Cylon attack on the Colonies, the battered remnants of the human race are on the run, constantly searching for the next signpost on the road to Earth. They face the threat of Cylon attack from without, and treachery and crisis from within. Firefly:

Wow, what a list of games! The only show/movie here that I ever really got into was the Hunger Games, so those ones sound interesting to me. Once my hubby and I get our adoption placement and depending on what they are into, some of these games may be making their way into our home for game night!
