Essential Oils: How To Heal The Mind & Body with Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender essential oil is extremely versatile. if you use only one essential oil, this would be a great one to use. It has so many uses and is so good for you. It is also safe to use around babies and young children. It can even be used internally if you are careful.
Here is some information about lavender essential oil: It is used to heal mind and body. It is not just an oil that smells good. It can help you feel better.
You can use it to clean out cuts, heal bruises, or heal other skin problems. Lavender is known to have a calming, relaxing, and balancing effect on the mind. If you're stressed, anxious, or can't sleep, a little bit of lavender oil can help calm your mind and help you relax. I used to use it when I had anxiety and insomnia during and right after pregnancy. To this day, the smell of lavender is instantly relaxing.
Lavender essential oil can be used directly on the skin without a carrier oil. To help you relax or sleep, put a few drops on your palms and hold your hands over your mouth and nose and breathe in deeply through the nose. You can also put a drop or two on your pillow or your clothes so you can keep smelling it.
Lavender oil can also be used on a sting or a bite. It helps reduce itching and swelling and pain. I have found that yes, this does work, and I keep a bottle on me at all times during the summer.
If you have a minor burn without any blistering, you can put a few drops on it and rub in. This will help reduce redness, swelling and pain. If you have a severe burn, I wouldn't use it. Just use a drop or two.
Lavender can be used on a cut, even if it is open and bleeding, as long as it is a small cut. The lavender oil can help stop the bleeding and disinfect the wound since it is antibacterial. Again, just a drop or two.
Lavender oil can help with motion sickness and nausea as well. Simply put a drop or two behind the ears or over the belly. Some people even put a drop on their tongue, but I have never tried this and would not use it with babies or children.
A recent handy use I have discovered for this oil is that it helps stop nosebleeds. Hold the nose as usual, but put a drop of lavender on the nose and rub in. It helps because lavender oil is an awesome substance that helps stop active bleeding!
Lavender oil can soothe dry and chapped skin and it makes a great additive to cocoa or shea butters for additional skin treatment. It also works well on the lips. My favorite homemade body butter is beeswax, shea butter, coconut oil, cocoa butter, and lavender oil (sometimes with other oils mixed in). It smells good, tastes good, and feels good.
I also use lavender in combination with lemon and frankincense for an allergy relief blend. I use it in the diffuser/pot of boiling water as well as directly on the skin with a carrier oil. I swear it helps!
I put a few drops of lavender oil in my shampoo to help with dry flaky scalp and dandruff too. You could also put the oil directly on the scalp and rub in well.
Lavender oil works well to help heal cold and canker sores quickly.
Food grade lavender oil can be added to baked goods and beverages. Just remember that one drop of the oil is equivalent to many, many cups of lavender tea. So, if you wouldn’t drink that much lavender tea at once, seriously think about whether or not you should ingest that much in oil form.
Remember I am not a doctor or healthcare professional, nor do I play one on TV!
What do you do to relax?
