First of all, Christmas is my favourite time of the year! My birthday is 3 days before that and I usually am in a good mood.
My Christmas traditions include putting up the tree and decorating it on December 1st. My sister and I also make our own Christmas cakes for friends and family We sell some too. My family camps out at my sister for at least 2 weeks over the festive season. Or she comes to ours with her family for the season. I also love Carol singing and helping the needy during this time. I can't wait to read about other people's traditions.
Mama Writes Reviews - November 27, 2017 5:20 PM
Those are all awesome traditions! I love them all.

We have a little family tradition where the kids get to choose a new Christmas tree decoration each year. By the time they are grown up, we will have a tree full of decorations picked by them.
Mama Writes Reviews - November 27, 2017 5:21 PM
I absolutely LOVE that. I have done that with my kids (who are 2 and 5). My hope is to also give them to them when they're grown.

Our traditions are still growing, but we have a few. We put up the tree around Thanksgiving because that is when the in-laws get to be there. We make a ton of cookies during the season, and we celebrate with family. Time together is our biggest tradition!
Mama Writes Reviews - November 27, 2017 5:22 PM
Family time is the most important! And yeah, our traditions are changing too, as our families move around and things change every year!
Jacqui Odell - November 27, 2017 2:06 PM
We love having a party as we put up our Christmas tree.
Mama Writes Reviews - November 27, 2017 5:22 PM
That sounds like such a fun idea!

My favorite Christmas tradition is gathering as a family around Mexican Food on Christmas Eve. Usually playing games, and generally having fun together :)
Mama Writes Reviews - November 27, 2017 5:23 PM
Mexican food is my favorite! We usually do homemade pizzas on Christmas Eve, but I am loving the Mexican food idea!
Mandy - November 27, 2017 4:32 PM
Our family loves to put our Christmas decorations up the weekend before Thanksgiving. We watch Christmas movies and decorate! We also have to make a trip to Hallmark to check out what new items they have.
Mama Writes Reviews - November 27, 2017 5:23 PM
Those all sound wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing.
michelle - November 27, 2017 4:42 PM
I wrapped christmas books and every night my daughter gets to pick a gift and we read that book that night. that way we have beautiful gifts under the tree all month too
Mama Writes Reviews - November 27, 2017 5:24 PM
That is so sweet! I have seen the book idea somewhere before and I love it. I'm so glad you do that!

Christmas pajamas. My mom’s braided bread and bacon for breakfast. (Which I bake now). I’m discovering now though that traditions can change and morph as we get older and the nest empties. Many changes I wasn’t prepared for, but I’ve learned to roll with it. Christmas is more than our traditions, it’s about family, and most importantly the spirit of the season.
Mama Writes Reviews - November 28, 2017 12:35 PM
Very well said. And that bacon bread sounds really good.

Our tradition is to make a big batch of Chex mix every year. It only lasts a few days, but it is soooo good!
Mama Writes Reviews - November 28, 2017 12:36 PM
My family is pretty big on Chex mix too!
Tiffany - November 27, 2017 10:31 PM
My favorite Christmas tradition is for the youngest in the household to put the star on the tree. My son LOVES to do it and I see so much joy in him with that responsibility. It's awesome!
Mama Writes Reviews - November 28, 2017 12:36 PM
That is so sweet! I love it. Thanks for sharing.
emman damian - November 27, 2017 11:12 PM
We usually spend the Christmas together. We also cook special dishes as our tradition.
Mama Writes Reviews - November 28, 2017 12:36 PM
That's awesome!
Britney Kaufman - November 27, 2017 11:26 PM
We don't really have any besides going to Mass and my mothers!
Mama Writes Reviews - November 28, 2017 12:37 PM
Hey, both of those are important too!
Mandee - November 28, 2017 12:31 AM
So far our Christmas traditions are to set up the tree after thanksgiving (the day after if we are in town) and to alternate between going to Idaho, and Ohio every other year to visit family:)
Mama Writes Reviews - November 28, 2017 12:37 PM
Oh the joys of road trips to see family. My parents moved down here a couple of years ago so I don't need to do that anymore... although my grandparents live over 1000 miles away and I never get to see them...
Sapna Krishnan - November 28, 2017 5:54 AM
We don't celebrate Christmas but I love everything about the season of giving. It has a warmth to it that is very welcoming. I do visit friends who celebrate Christmas and being a foodie, I try to stuff in as much as I can of what's available on the table. :)
Mama Writes Reviews - November 28, 2017 12:38 PM
Thank you! That was very well stated!
Angel Coleman - November 28, 2017 8:39 AM
I didn't grow up celebrating Christmas so, I don't have any unfortunately.
Mama Writes Reviews - November 28, 2017 12:39 PM
That's okay too! Thanks for stopping by!
Mrs Mary Ann Abbott - November 28, 2017 8:45 AM
We like to drive round the local area at night in our PJs looking at the christmas lights listening to christmas music!
Mama Writes Reviews - November 28, 2017 12:40 PM
That sounds like so much fun!
Natalie - November 28, 2017 11:31 AM
We drive up into the mountains and cut down our own tree, then that night we decorate it as a family and have Christmas records playing and drink eggnog ! ❤️
Mama Writes Reviews - November 28, 2017 12:40 PM
That sounds absolutely wonderful! Thanks for sharing!
Rosie - November 28, 2017 12:55 PM
Love this questions! We have two new kids are making traditions. Our favorite is going on the local polar express train with the cousins!
Mama Writes Reviews - November 28, 2017 8:05 PM
That sounds like so much fun!
Sellenee - November 28, 2017 10:56 PM
Christmas has been rough since my mom passed. We try to do a Christmas Eve box with socks, a movie, popcorn and hot chocolate. We also have found magazine subscriptions a very popular gift option with our boys so it’s one we plan to continue for many years to come.
Mama Writes Reviews - November 29, 2017 8:58 AM
I am so sorry for your loss. I can only imagine how hard that is. I love your traditions though.
Anjana - November 29, 2017 4:55 AM
While we don't have a Christmas tradition per se, I just love the Christmas celebrations we used to have at our boarding school. The comments above have given me such great ideas to start some with my kiddo.
Mama Writes Reviews - November 29, 2017 8:59 AM
Yes! I've gotten some good ideas as well!
hem - November 29, 2017 5:07 AM
i love Christmas and wait for it eagerly every year. These are all superb traditions and i follow them all.
Mama Writes Reviews - November 29, 2017 8:59 AM
I LOVE Christmas too!
Haley - November 29, 2017 9:09 AM
We always hang up lights and decorate as a family :)
Mama Writes Reviews - November 29, 2017 9:22 AM
That's so much fun! Thanks for sharing!
Melissa - November 29, 2017 3:58 PM
We are still working to establish our traditions. We have done gingerbread houses, Jesus' birthday cakes, and holiday crafts. Time will tell which traditions stick!
Mama Writes Reviews - November 29, 2017 4:24 PM
I hear you! With young kids, things constantly change.
Maryann Lowden - November 30, 2017 10:08 AM
The traditions we used to have was to decorate the house so it looked like the North Pole and bake lots & lots of cookies for the Annual Cookie Exchange that I hosted.
Last year our traditions fell by the wayside as my husband was hospitalized 4 times in 2016. This year will be a quiet Christmas as his health is declining
Mama Writes Reviews - December 2, 2017 3:59 PM
I am so sorry to hear this! I hope you have a very peaceful Christmas this year.
Inez - November 30, 2017 7:48 PM
I give my son a new ornament for his Christmas tree that I set up in his room with other small decorations. We have some other traditions with family, like going to look at lights and making tamales for Christmas Eve!
Mama Writes Reviews - December 2, 2017 4:00 PM
I am loving the tamales idea! That's awesome!
