Plum Organics Little Yums: Cocoa Puff just LOVED these semi- healthy, organic teething wafers!

Every once in a while, I find an old post that either I forgot to publish or just never got around to it. Today's is one of those posts! I can't believe I never got this one published because Cocoa Puff devoured these like there was no tomorrow! So, here's the post just like I wrote it wayyyyy back when...
HEB had these Plum Organics little yums organic teething wafers on clearance last time we were there. They looked interesting, and I’m rarely one to turn down a sale, so I grabbed a couple boxes for Cocoa Puff to munch on.
The package comes with 6 ½ ounce packs. Each pack has 3 little wafers in it. The wafers are a good size for little hands to hold. They have a little bit of texture to them so they are good for the gums. They dissolve easily too so I’m comfortable with Cocoa Puff eating them (supervised, of course). He seems to enjoy them and he starts making happy noises when he sees me with the box.
I have the pumpkin banana flavor. I tasted a little corner of one of the wafers and actually, it was really good! It had a good crunch to it but immediately started dissolving in my mouth. It is a little sweet, and sure enough, the third ingredient is added organic cane sugar. Okay, I guess… This makes the wafers seem a little more like cookies, but I’m okay with anything that makes his teething pain less uncomfortable.
Teething wafers are recommended for babies who can crawl with their little bellies off the floor and who can handle eating thicker, chunkier food purees. They’ll also need to be able to pick up small pieces of food with their pincer grasp and be able to mash food with their jaw/teeth. If your baby isn’t able to do any one of these, I’d wait before letting them try these. While they do dissolve, they don’t dissolve completely or instantly, leaving very small chunks. Froot Loop wouldn’t have been able to handle these until he was quite a bit older since he had texture issues with his food. Cocoa Puff will eat anything and everything, so he’s good with these.
I am still pleased with these. They are made with only a few ingredients: organic rice flour, organic corn flour, organic cane sugar, organic buckwheat flour, organic banana powder, organic pumpkin powder, and organic flavor. Organic foods are not a necessity in this house, but I do buy organic products when I can afford them.
I do think that the added sugar is unnecessary, especially since pumpkin and banana are already pretty sweet. I also wish there was more banana and pumpkin than added sugar. I do like that there’s no artificial colors or flavors or GMO ingredients and that there’s real fruit and buckwheat in it.
I’m glad I got the chance to try these while they were on sale. I’m not sure I’ll buy them at full price as they are on the pricier side, but we will see. Cocoa Puff likes them, but he also likes cheaper (non organic) teething biscuits and cookies, so I will probably stick with those. If price wasn’t an issue, I’d buy these occasionally.
What do you use for teething biscuits?
