I have been taking probiotics for years... probably at least a decade. They have really helped keep my IBS under control, especially during and after rounds of antibiotics. I recently had the chance to try Vibranelle's probiotic and prebiotic supplements. These supplements are healthy and environment-friendly.

Probiotics have really come alive in popularity in the last few years. There are tons to choose from, but it's important to choose a high quality one, otherwise you're just throwing your money away.

Probiotics are actually bacteria, but they're the good kind, I promise! When most people think of bacteria, they think of the bacteria that makes us sick, such as E.coli or strep, etc, but there are so many kinds of good bacteria as well! These good bacteria are helpful to the human body, helping our digestive system function the way it should. They can also treat various illnesses such as IBD, IBS, other GI issues, and even anxiety.

There are TONS of species of good bacteria out there.... too many to mention in this article... but a quick Google Search can be very enlightening. Or maybe that's a post for another day...

Before I go any further, please remember that I am NOT a doctor nor a healthcare professional and you really should discuss taking any supplements with your doctor/healthcare provider or even a pharmacist.

The Vibranelle Advanced Probiotic is fantastic! I've taken SO MANY brands and varieties of probiotics, and this one is among the best, if not THE best. Here are some of the features of this probiotic, as taken from the Amazon listing:

This probiotic is formulated for both men and women with 5.75 billion CFU of 7 powerful strains of bacteria. Thier patented controlled-release delivery system ensures that the probiotic bacteria survive the acidity of the stomach and make it to the intestines.

Their "Patented Livebac technology" guarantees survivability of spore strains at a variety of temperatures, which means that the probiotic does not have to be refrigerated. (Mama's tip: I do always keep my probiotics in the refrigerator)

By combining 7 different clinically researched bacterial strains, cultured under carefully controlled conditions to ensure identity and effectiveness, these probiotics can boost immune strength, digestion, energy, weight loss, and/or mood. These strains are: DE111 (Bacillus subtilis), L. rhamnosus, L. casei, B. longum L. acidophilus, L. plantarum, , B. longum.

This probiotic requires fewer CFUs (Colony-Forming Units) to get the same results as other brands thanks to the higher survivability rate and is made in the USA in an FDA registered facility. It is assesed to meet GMP standards, which ensures that a product has the strength, composition, quality and purity that appear on the label.

A PRE-biotic is essentially food for the probiotics. It's an enzyme that the human body can't metabolize and digest, but the bacteria can. It helps the good bacteria thrive in the digestive system where they are supposed to and helps them efficiently do their work of keeping us healthy.

Nutrivee's Prebiotic is a fine way to get those bacteria in pristine shape. According to their product page, it magnifies the benefits of their probiotics by supporting excellent growth of a broad spectrum of beneficial bacteria; demonstrated to support an increased rate of growth of helpful bacteria in the colon of up to 100 times; and as much as 10-fold growth in the small intestine. Don't worry, these prebiotics won't cause gas or bloating because the advanced prebiotic formula is not fiber or starch-based (unlike most formulas); is also 100% vegetarian, gluten-free and GMO-free.

My favorite feature is that it's effective at smaller doses so you can swallow fewer pills and get the same results you’d get with other prebiotic supplements. It also takes effect within a few hours, not days or even weeks like many other prebiotics supplements. I already have to take a lot of pills every day (Thanks, PCOS...), so the fewer pills, the better.

Finally, this prebiotic works in all areas of the GI system, not just the large intestine, to provide comprehensive support for probiotic bacterial growth.

Taking both of these together has helped my digestive system even more than before. I have more energy and less stomachache. I take one of each before breakfast in the morning. If I have to take antibiotics, then I move these to lunch time, since you don't want to take probiotics and antibiotics at the same time (because that would kill them, duh!!). I also take another round of the probiotic and prebiotic at a different time than I'm taking the antibiotics. The pills are easy to swallow and they are absolutely affordable!
