Quickie Questions: Star Trek edition

Oh, y'all. Y'all know how much I love Star Trek... actually, how much our whole family loves Star Trek! We've got a debate going on here, so I'm going to ask y'all what y'all think. (I'm really loving the word "y'all" today!)

Who’s your captain?

I'm talking about Star Trek captains, more specifically, Captains Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway, and Archer.

Who's your captain?

Captain Kirk: Had the passion, but he's fueled by testosterone and honestly, couldn't do his job without his buddies, Spock, Bones, Sulu, Scotty, and Uhura... he's like a space cowboy more than the leader of a crew.

Captain Picard: Diplomacy at its finest. Textbook captain and involved with his crew and his ship. Perhaps too textbook?

Commander, then Captain Sisko: In charge of a whole space station. He was everyone's buddy, until they got into trouble. He's creative and innovative, although he does yell a lot... He is fearsome and yet really made some questionable decisions.

Plus, the baseball episode of DS9 is HILARIOUS and is one of my favorite "feel-good" episodes of Star Trek. I love it so much I bought this Deep Space Niners Shirt from TeePublic

Captain Janeway: Passionate and devoted to her crew. She'd do anything to get her crew back home, even if it meant bending or breaking the rules. Yes, she was a mother figure, but did you see how she handled the Borg?

Captain Archer: He was an innovator and definitely had the curiosity. He had so much potential, but often played it safe.

Ugh! I can't decide! Who's my captain? Who's your captain?

P.S. this post reminded me of this awesome Star Trek Enterprise mug I bought for my family to use... Hee hee. Isn't it awesome!?

Janeway for sure! We need more women at the top...even in our Star Trek series!

I guess I’d have to pick Captain Kirk since he’s the only one I remember watching as a kid. I didn’t know Scott Bakula was a Captain! I love him as an actor.

Confession: I've never watched Star Trek! But based on these descriptions, I'm Picard.

Oh wow, I love Star Trek, This is my father all time favorite movie when I was a child. This takes me back to memories of my younger age.
Lyosha - September 18, 2018 11:09 AM
I love Star Trek! Each series has its charm... It's hard to pick just one captain. Sisko or Janeway is actually my biggest question.
P.S. I also love capt. Georgiou from both universes.
Kelsie - September 18, 2018 11:44 AM

This was so entertaining! And what a throwback to see Red from Orange is the new black (Kate Mulgrew) as Captain Janeway!

I've never watched Star Trek! Which is odd I guess for someone who would call themselves a geek. Might be time to watch through it!

I grew up watching more Star Wars than Star Trek and surprisingly do not know much about the characters even though I’ve watched some of the movies. Your descriptions are helpful though!
