Puttin' On A Show: Melissa and Doug hand puppets for kids

My youngest LOVES putting on puppet shows. We have several sets of the Melissa and Doug hand puppets, and they get used quite a bit.
Right now, the superhero is his favorite and he loves to take it on adventures with the cowboy or the pirate.
They are VERY well made and there's such a variety of them!
We have two sets of people, the farm animals, as the Winnie the Pooh set.
The Winnie the Pooh set has Pooh Bear, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet. Cocoa Puff squealed with delight when he opened them on valentine’s day last year.
He’s obsessed with Winnie the Pooh and has this cute plush he carries around everywhere with him. He immediately started putting on puppet shows with Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore and did them for about 4 days straight. Then, Pooh bear started hanging out with the Superhero and it got very silly.
The first set of puppets we got for Cocoa Puff was the Farm Animal set for his 2nd birthday, when we had the farm themed party.
His favorites from this set are the cow and the “dirty” pig. It’s so funny because he tries to put them both on at the same time and he can get the cow on his left hand very easily and then he tries to use his puppet covered hand to get the pig on his right hand and he gets frustrated. It’s adorable.
Cocoa Puff also got the Community Helpers puppets for Christmas one year.
He was excited because there was a fireman in the set. He didn’t care about the police officer or the surgeon that much, but Froot Loop really liked the construction worker because that was the closest thing to an electrical engineer.
This is the Storybook Set. It has a ballerina, mermaid, princess, and fairy.
These are so cute, and I’ve put them on Cocoa Puff’s wishlist for his birthday. He used to really love playing with his "baby" and the color pink, but hey, it doesn't hurt to have some girls in the mix of puppets!
These zoo animals are on his wishlist too!
There’s an elephant, giraffe, tiger, and monkey. Froot Loop’s nursery was zoo themed and we have a lot of giraffes and elephants lying around, but no puppets!
I also put this Little Red Riding Hood set on his list. That Big Bad Wolf is one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen!
We’re starting to work on storytelling with Cocoa Puff, and Froot Loop started doing storytelling in Pre-K for awhile (and still needs to work on it more). I think these would be a great way to reinforce that skill.
I could not resist putting this ADORABLE fantasy set on his list too (but really, I want it just so I can play with it with him.)
Don’t you just LOVE that dragon!? Plus, you know, there’s a princess in it and she’s wearing a purply pink color dress (Cocoa Puff’s old favorite color). We’ll have all sorts of fun with this.
Cocoa Puff really wants this set of Pets puppets.
The dog looks a little bit like Lucky Charms
And the cat looks like a stray that hangs out in our neighborhood. Froot Loop has been asking for a rabbit for about a year now, and I wanted one for probably 10 years when I was a kid and I NEVER GOT ONE! Humph.
The bird is also adorable. I’m allergic to feathers though so no pet birds for us! I’d still REALLY like to get a bunch of chickens though and name them after my Grandmother and her sisters.
There’s also a set of Mickey Mouse puppets with Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck.
They are really cute, but neither of my boys are into Mickey.
I'm really enjoying the puppet shows. A couple days after my gallbladder removal surgery, Froot Loop decided to stay home with me while Daddy and Cocoa Puff went to church and he put on a few puppet shows. I don't remember the content of those puppet shows unfortunately (I blame the narcotics...), but it was sweet of him to entertain me!
What was the last show you saw in a theater?
