Review of a Set of Lip Glazes

I'm re-entering the makeup game after a long hiatus. Since the last time I wore makeup regularly, there's all sorts of new stuff out there, including these Matte Lip Glosses. Read on and see how I liked them...
This is the set of colors that I received. I thought I'd test for durability on my arm first before trying them on my face. They were very matte, which is exactly what was advertised.
Here is the set of colors and how it looks on the model's lips. Personally, I think most of the colors are too dark for my skin tone, but the middle two aren't AWFUL...
Each tube came in a box and each tube has a lip makeup brush in it. The brush was easy to apply with, but it came out VERY thick... I think it may have been better to dip one of my own brushes into it instead of using the brush it came with.
I let the colors sit for 5 minutes, then I dabbed them with a piece of tissue. A LOT of the color came off, but again, this may be because it went on SO THICK!
After ANOTHER 5 minutes, I took another piece of tissue and rubbed the colors. (I didn't rub them hard, but I also didn't just graze them). The color smeared VERY badly and started feeling very sticky! Lip color shouldn't smear like this, especially after TEN minutes of sitting on the skin!
Next, I tested how waterproof they were. Even after smearing on my skin, regular water would not remove the lipgloss, which again, is exactly what's advertised. Even using soap and water and scrubbing didn't remove it.
After using makeup remover cloths specifically for lip makeup, it came off, but man, I had to SCRUB it hard! My arm was red for a good 10 minutes afterward, so it DOES stay in place once it actually adheres to your skin.
I decided to bite the bullet and try one of the middle shades on my lips. I put it on and unfortunately, it was like putting tinted gluestick on my lips! It was SO STICKY and "gunky!" and I immediately wiped it all off because I really didn't like how it felt. Unfortunate!
Overall, I was not a fan of these lipgloss, but again, I'm new to makeup and maybe I did something wrong. More likely though, it's just personal preference. I don't like heavy and sticky lip color, even though those are the ones that stay longer. While I probably wouldn't wear the darker colors in the set because my skin tone is SO light, the middle two pink/peach shades are more my speed.
Do you prefer "light" or "heavy" makeup and what shades are your favorite?
