The Week Before a Dinosaur Birthday Party

So Cocoa Puff's birthday party is tomorrow! He had a great birthday this week. He got to open lots of presents and eat chocolate cake and we went out for dinner to our favorite Mexican restaurant so he could eat his favorite: chips!

I feel like I'm running behind this week. We went on vacation the week of Memorial Day for a whole week and I just don't feel like I've caught back up yet! I have laundry coming out of my ears and the dishes are overflowing in the sink. I was sick the whole week of vacation and then still didn't feel the greatest after we got back.

Sunday was crazy town with church and a local concert in the afternoon. Monday I had to drive to get groceries and dinosaur party supplies. I also had to get a new TV since ours randomly broke. I took both kids with me to the nearest Walmart and it was difficult. They were really good until I got to the electronics section and they had to sit still for a few minutes while I consulted with Honey Graham on the phone. It totally wore me out.

I spent Tuesday wrapping presents and making my practice cake. Yes, I have to PRACTICE making this birthday cake... it's dinosaur themed, including rock-shaped jelly beans and a sand volcano with red icing as lava. I also had to go to the store again for things I forgot on Monday. I also tried to enjoy Cocoa Puff's last day as a baby as much as possible.

Wednesday was so awesome for the birthday boy and for the rest of us. It was exhausting, but we had so much fun! Cocoa Puff had sensory overload so many times and Froot Loop did a great job not being the center of attention.

Thursday I started getting ready for the party. It was an irritating day. Every place I went, something went wrong. I was also dealing with getting our Kid's Kindle Fire replaced. We have the no questions asked 2 year warranty, but they make it near impossible to actually use and his Kindle is totally kaput. I also took Cocoa Puff to get his 12 month checkup and vaccinations. Plus, you know, I had to clean and do all sorts of other stuff!

I've spent today getting ready for the party. I made the cake and decorated it, I got decorations ready, I prepped as much food as I could, and I can't seem to find one of our inflatable dinosaurs that I bought for the party and I'm very irritated about it. I've been collecting birthday party supplies for a month or so and I've been putting everything in the same box, but for some reason, one of the dinosaurs didn't make it in there and it drives me crazy when I can't find things!

Tomorrow will be insane getting set up. I have a lot of decorations to do, and since we're doing it at church, I'll have to set up tables and chairs and all of that too. I'm also not totally sure how many people are coming since I have a lot of maybes and we'll see how the day goes. I hope I have enough food, but I'm a chronic overplanner, so I usually end up bringing a lot of food back home. It should be a fun day. I have a lot to do.

I'm tired. I still feel a little bit of the illness I had last week and I've been running around like a crazy person doing things for the birthday boy as well as for my parents. At least I've been sleeping okay, as has Cocoa Puff.

It's almost bedtime!

What time do you go to bed? What about your kids?

My kids go to bed at 8pm and I try to go to bed by 10:30 but sometimes it’s later. I love planning parties I bet this one turned out great!

Dinosaurs are always a huge hit with kids! For some reason, dinosaurs fascinate young children and adults too!

I have my son a dinosaur themed party as well! And around here, we go to bed awfully late. My kiddos usually pass out around 10 or 11 and I’m up until 2a and sometimes later than that.

Wow it seems like you've had a busy week! I can't quite explain why kids are continually fascinated by dinosaurs!
We go to sleep at around 11.30 on, half an hour before or after our kids sleep! :-)

We had an awesome dinosaur party for our oldest when he turned 3! It was so much fun even the toys he got from friends were dinosaur themed.

Looking back, the parties we all liked the most were themed with activities. You don't remember all the exhaustion that goes into it either. ;) Totally worth it. Hope he had a ton of fun!

I am looking forward to planning my boy's party... i don't think he understands or appreciates dinosaurs yet but he sure loves farm animals.

Wow! A practice cake? I would love to be able to make a cake but I am awful when it comes to that. I can't wait to see the real cake.

I love this! My kids go to be around 8-830 and I stay up until about 11pm cleaning up and doing writing for the blog.

Oh wow this party sounds like so much fun! My little one usually goes down around 830-9 and then I usually catch up on any work that needs to be done

Hope the party went well! I know those kind of bad days all too well. I will keep that in mind about the no questions asked kindle insurance.

This sounds like fun! We had a dinosaur birthday party for my son when he turned 4 and he loved it!

Wow, Mama you are awesome for doing all of these! I’m sure your kid was so happy about his dinosaur party. Parties always stresses me out and I don’t tend to get tired before. But when it’s all over, I just feel the stress taking over me and Im gonna need a “me” time haha!
Thanks for sharing your week
