Hey Mr. Tambourine Man: Review of Fisher Price Musical Educational Tambourine Toy for Babies

Making music is a very important skill for babies to develop. This Fisher Price tambourine is a good way to get started. No, it is not a real tambourine, but yes, it does make noise when it is shaken.
The tambourine has 5 brightly colored rattles that spin around. When it is shaken, the rattles do make a rattle noise. The spinning is a nice feature for older babies who are developing their fine motor skills. The handle is a good size for babies. As soon as Cocoa Puff was able to grab toys, he was grabbing onto the handle of this one. He likes to shake it and hear the noise as he shakes it. It was a great way to learn cause and effect.
One of the features that Fisher Price boasts is the “rocking” feature for little babies. The back of the tambourine is a convex design so it does rock back and forth. It’s not a big deal, but it gives young babies a little something to do while having tummy time.
The mirror is Cocoa Puff’s favorite part. He loves looking at the cute little baby in there. He has started talking to himself and babbling to himself in the mirror. He also loves to hold the tambourine and play “peekaboo” with it.
Froot Loop even plays with this sometimes, but I definitely would not buy it for anyone older than a baby. I like how it is an early introduction to music, even though it’s not a “real” tambourine. It’s just a nice twist on a baby rattle.
Can you play any musical instruments?
