When Froot Loop could walk around and make his own decisions, we ran into a problem where he wanted a specific toy but couldn’t find it because it was stuck in the bottom of a toybox.

I looked online for a while for clear plastic bins or shelves or a variety of things. I finally came across this awesome toy organizer. It has four different shelves that hold 3 bins each. (1 large bin and 2 small bins). The bins are removable and easily cleaned, which is always a plus with kids. The corners are rounded, so there is less chance of injury. The plastic bins are made of a thick, durable plastic. They have been dropped and thrown and are still in one piece. The larger bins are 8” x 11.5” x 5.5”. The larger ones are 16.5” x 11.5” x 5.5”. The entire structure is 34” wide x 31” high x 11” deep, so it doesn’t take up a ton of room and it organizes very well.

I also like that the unit was very easy to put together and is really, very simple. It is very sturdy as well and looks good in our playroom/living room. The bins are red, blue, green, and yellow, and there is one large bin and two small bins of each color. There is also a way to secure it to the wall, but really, the shelf is so stable you don’t really NEED to have it. There are also units with pastel colored bins if that is more to your liking.

The wood is a nice, light, natural color that works with about anything.

The organizer is so great for smaller toys that need to be separated. We have had various things in these bins over the years. We had blocks, cars, balls, flowers, small stuffed animals, rubber duckies, dinosaurs, Weebles, fisher price animals, felt food, play food, small plates/bowls/cups/pots/pans, etc. Larger toys do not fit so well in the bins since there isn’t a lot of extra space between the rows. I guess larger toys could fit in the top bins if you really needed them too.

This unit could be used for so much more than toys, too. It would make a nice craft/fabric organizer. I could see it being used in a pantry. It could organize tools in the shed or garage. Towels, washcloths, etc. could be organized in the bathroom. If you have a lot of legos, this could be a fantastic way to organize those. It will grow and adapt with us as the boys get older (sigh).

A problem we had in the beginning was that Froot Loop just wanted to take the bins off and dump out the contents. While I like that the bins are easily removable, he was just being crazy. I fixed this problem by duct taping the front of the bins to the wood rod. (I have since removed the tape, but we needed it this way for a little while until he learned to STOP DUMPING EVERYTHING OUT!).

Having the toys organized made Froot Loop much happier. He could find his toys more easily. Clean up was much simpler and quicker too. I’m all for making things quicker and easier!

Which room in your house needs some serious organization?
