Cutie Fruitie Pie: Review of Learning Resources' Super Sorting Pie Educational Montessori Toy for Preschoolers & Kindergarten

Froot Loop loves math, including patterns, counting, and sorting. For Christmas, we wanted to get him a fun, educational, mathematics toy. I waited until I found this on sale, and then I snatched it up! It’s been one of his favorite things to play with, and he doesn’t even know he’s learning!
The Learning Resources Super Sorting Pie is a cute, fun way to teach early math skills such as colors and shapes. It also is a great way to help introduce, work on, and master other skills such as grouping, sorting, patterns, counting, greater/less than, addition, subtraction, and quantity vs. numbers.
I especially love the jumbo tweezers that are included. These are great tools to strengthen those muscles in the hands and work on the fine motor skills and pincer grip.
The pie comes with five different colors of fruits and a removeable divider as well as a top crust (which can be used as a holding bowl!). There are 7 different kinds of fruit (the bananas are green and yellow, and the grapes are purple and red, etc.), and 3 double sided sorting cards, which give a variety of ways to count, group, and sort. Other fruits are apples, oranges, grapefruits, apricots, and plums.
This is also a lot of fun for a sensory bin or just for free play. Froot Loop loves putting the fruity counters in and out of the bowl using the tweezers. Cocoa Puff likes to grab them too, but I definitely would not let him play with them unsupervised since he occasionally still puts things in his mouth. Froot Loop has made several pretend pies with this set as well. We also use the pieces to start teaching Cocoa Puff about colors and textures.
There is an included learning/activity guide which includes several ideas to engage your kids.
This would be a great activity to have in any preschool or kindergarten classroom or daycare. There are so many fun ways to play with it and it can be used for years.
What is your favorite fruit?
