Tutorial: Turkey Can Handprint Craft To Keep Your Kids Busy While Waiting for Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving! Some people call it Turkey Day, which sort of gets on my nerves a little, but really, the meal (at least the eating part) is all about the turkey, so I can see why it’s called that.
This is a super cute turkey craft that can easily be used as centerpieces at your table or as cute gift boxes. This craft features your kiddos, but really, it’s going to have to be assembled by you, or your older kids.
Materials:
Small, snack size Pringles can (or a small nut can, or whatever)
Brown construction paper
Construction paper in desired feather colors
Scissors
Glue
Pencil
Google Eyes
Small paper plate
Cut paper plate in half.
Trace your kid’s hand on a piece of construction paper.
Cut out hand shape. I used a binder clip to clip 7 pieces of paper together and was able to cut out all 7 handprints at once. You could also trace and cut out each one separately.
Cover your can with the brown paper. Use a little more glue than you think you’ll need.
Glue your handprints to the rounded edge of the plate. I did mine in two “layers.” I did a back layer and then a front layer. I was going to let the boys do it themselves, but they were not interested and wanted to go back to trying to shove each other into their ball pit box…
Let dry.
Once dry, glue your plate to the back of your can.
Let dry.
Glue google eyes to front of can.
Cut out shapes for beak and waddle.
Glue beak and waddle to front of can.
What’s your favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal?
