Tutorial: Easy Paper Plate Sunshine Craft For Kids Made with Supplies You Probably Already Have

“You are My Sunshine” is the first song I sang to both of my boys, and it is my go-to song whenever one of them needs some extra comfort. It holds special meaning to me because it was the song my dad sang to me when I was little as well. I love this song and I always will.
This is a cute little craft when you’re stuck inside on a rainy day!
Materials:
Glue
Paper Plate (We use small ones)
Yellow Tissue paper or construction paper
Scissors
Orange Craft foam or construction paper
Google Eyes
optional: Yellow Food Coloring
Yarn for hanging
Put some glue in a craft bowl.
Add yellow food coloring and mix until you have your desired color.
Cut the yellow paper into squares. (or just let your kiddos have at it and cut the yellow paper into all sorts of fun little shapes)
Paint the plate with your yellow glue.
Cover the plate with the yellow paper shapes.
Glue Google Eyes on top of the paper.
Glue pom poms onto the paper for the nose and mouth (any color(s) you want!)
Let dry.
Cut strips of orange foam or construction paper. We did 8 rays!
Glue the rays to the back of the plate and let dry.
Glue the ends of your yarn to the back of the plate so you can hang it!
What song is your go-to song to sing to your kids?
