Froot Loop suddenly loves to do simple crafts with me. FINALLY, all the craft supplies I’ve bought for him are being used, and most of the crafts are so simple that I can do them with Cocoa Puff too. We love our craft time now!

Since the boys have pretty short attention spans and limited patience for crafts, I have to have everything set up ahead of time, which is usually not a problem if I get set up during nap/quiet time or a meal time or something. I also try to get my materials together whenever I have time and put them all together in plastic bags or bins or whatever so I can just grab a bin and get going.

Anyway, that turned into a babble. This craft is a fun one for all ages since it’s so simple.

Supplies:
Small (or large) paper plate
Cotton Balls (or white pom poms)
Glue
Scissors

Pom Poms in various smaller sizes in Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple
Stickers that are mostly Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, or Purple. We used a mix of foam stickers and paper or plastic stickers.
Buttons in Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple
Sequins in Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple
Ribbon in Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple
Optional: six bowls/containers to do the sorting

Set up:
If you are going to do the sorting with the kiddos, get the sorting bowls out and put the colored materials next to them. Allow the kiddos to sort the items by color into the various bowls, one for red, one for orange, and so on. I want to do this next time, but I only had a few minutes to do this with Froot Loop today so I presorted everything beforehand. (This is also why I only got pictures of the finished project!)

Cut the plate in half. You only need one half per craft.
Cover the plate in glue.

Attach cotton balls to the glue until the plate is covered.
Cut 2-3 foot long length of each color of ribbon.
Glue the ribbons to the back of the plate.

Pick which color to start with and put dots of glue on that ribbon for the pom poms and sequins and buttons.

Have your kiddos attach the pom poms, sequins, and buttons to the dots of glue.

Put the stickers between the glued items.
Repeat for the rest of the colors.
Let dry
Cut another length of ribbon for hanging and glue both ends to the top of the back of the plate.

Did you love drawing and coloring rainbows as a kid?

Such a cute and fun project. My kids are all grown up now but I'll pin this so we can have fun when my young nieces and nephews come round. Thanks for stopping by to share this with us at Handmade Monday :-)

My daughter LOVES rainbows so we will defiantly be doing this craft! I also like the tips you gave regarding organization. I need to be more organized. Our craft cabinet is a mess and that causes me to not do crafts becuse I can’t find what I need.

This is such a great way for children to colour coordinate while also having an opportunity to be crafty! Such a wonderful idea!

rainbows are the easiest things I think for a child to learn to draw and I always start my children off with learning to do rainbows first. Also, it gives them a chance to use and learn so many colors, so that is always a bonus. This is a cute craft for any kid.

I know it seemed like babble to you, but the tip at the beginning was great! Sometimes craft time can fall apart fast if you aren't organized. It's smart to think of that ahead of time and have everything ready.
