Quickie Questions: Back to School Edition

It's that time of the week again for Quickie Questions, where I ask y'all, my favorite readers, a simple (yet SUPER important) question to get us talking in the comments! Here's this week's question after the jump:

What grade are your kids in this year?

My oldest, Froot Loop, is in Kindergarten! KINDERGARTEN! He absolutely LOVES his teacher (he was pulled out for reading last year in Pre-K because he's already reading at a second grade level and he had her for that time) and he knows about half of his classmates. He's excited to finally get to go to music and art this year too!

I'm so proud of this boy. He's growing up TOO FAST!

Poor Cocoa Puff! He thought he was going to Pre-K this year with his brother. Sorry, dude... not only is your brother in KINDERGARTEN this year, but you can't go to pre-k yet! He was so mad at me when I took his brother to school, so I made him a sign to hold just like his brother's. When I told him what it said, he got the most pathetic and yet adorable pouty face so I just had to take a photo! Poor little guy... next year, buddy, next year!

No worries though, he's been having fun playing with all his toys without big brother interfering. He's also been playing with the dogs. Lucky Charms is getting REALLY good at playing trains and dinosaurs, and he's even good at tea parties. It took a couple of weeks last year for him to adjust, so I'm hoping that will be the case this year. In the meantime, I'll start playing "school" with him. He already knows all his letters, shapes, colors, and numbers, so I'm going to start teaching him how to read and keep working on his prewriting skills and basic math. He's ready for Pre-K, but the school says not until he's 4 since he doesn't have any developmental delays or handicaps.

Our daughter graduated college last year, but as a retired Grade 5 teacher this week would be filled ramping up for the new school year in September. Golly, I miss those days.

I don't have any kids of my own but I am a teacher. I love this time of year when the fresh faces come into the classroom. I'm sure you'll come up with a lot of fun activities to do with your child. That's such a fun age.

I don't have any kids of my own. I do have a few friends that are teachers and I always love to see all the prep and excitement this time of year for them

My son is now in the fifth grade, and schoolwork has become more demanding than ever!

I don't have any kids, so nothing to say there. But reading about him wanting to go to school was so cute. Reminded me of my youngest sister who had a late birthday so she couldn't go to school for an extra year even though she was so ready.

It’s always bittersweet when school starts back. I hate for summer to end but I love the schedule and structure of school time.

Even if I do not have children, I live next to a school and every year I love to see the kids going back to school, with pretty new uniforms and with joy!

Back to school time is always so different for every kid, but I still enjoying seeing all the fun pics and hearing the first day stories each and every year!

First of all, your kids are adorable! My four kids are all adults now and I am a grandmother of four granddaughters. Yes, all girls! My oldest granddaughter is almost 6 and just started first grade last week. My next granddaughter just turned 4, and is also not going to school yet this year. The next youngest granddaughter is going to be 2 years old in December, and the youngest just turned 1 year old in July.
