Gentian Violet: the BEST Treatment For Thrush, Rashes, Athlete's Foot, Ringworm, and MORE!

I found a product that used to be used quite frequently but for some reason, people stopped using! I had a strange rash that would go away, but then keep coming back no matter what I did. I would clear it up with tea tree oil, but then it came back a few weeks later. I’d put TTO on it again and it would go away but it would keep coming back! I did not know what else to try. I tried fungal creams, antibiotics, various essential oils, calamine lotion, benadryl, everything. Finally a friend of a friend suggested I look for gentian violet! And OH MY GOODNESS... IT WORKED!
What is gentian violet?
Gentian violet is considered an antifungal. It is commonly used to treat thrush and athlete’s foot and ring worm and other fungal infections. It is a VERY PURPLE liquid that you just “paint” on over the affected area. When I say it’s purple, it’s an understatement. This stuff will STAIN anything it gets on. My foot was purple for over a week! I still have a small stain on my tub from where it dropped and I didn’t see it in time to clean it up. The benefits far outweigh this minor side effect though.
This stuff is very easy to use. Using a cotton swab or the applicator included in the bottle, apply just enough of the gentian violet to cover the affected area. A little goes a long way.You can use it in the mouth, but take care not to swallow it. Be especially careful if using in a child’s mouth (i.e. treating thrush, etc.). I would use on a baby or child only under the supervision of a doctor or midwife. It does work amazingly for thrush, but again, if you have thrush, at least for the first time, you need to be in communication with your healthcare provider.
One warning about this: don’t cover the gentian violet with an airtight dressing. To avoid skin irritation, make sure to leave the area uncovered or use a breathable bandage so you don't stain your furniture or bedding or shoes or whatever.
Use the gentian violet three to four times a day for three days. If it still hasn’t cleared up, it’s time to see a doctor! Granted, I did use this for a good week, but I noticed extreme improvement within that first three days so I gave myself an extra week after a quick text to my midwife. I did not end up with any scarring or tattooing. I did get a lot of questions asked. A few people thought I had broken my toe since my foot was a bright purple, and then a nice bruised color.
The only active ingredient is Gentian Violet. This solution is a 1% solution.
Inactive ingredients are ethyl alcohol and purified water.
Remember I’m not a doctor or healthcare professional, nor do I play one on TV.
What's your favorite color? I love purple, but I think blue is my favorite. Ask again tomorrow... it might change.
