Review of VTech Sit to Stand Learning Walker For Babies Becoming Toddlers

Another one of the best, longest-lasting, most played with toys in our house is the VTech Sit to Stand Learning Walker.
Froot Loop learned to walk with this thing. It actually helped him sit up too. Cocoa Puff recently learned to walk with it too. When he’s not walking with it, he loves to play with it. It has bright colors and fun lights and sounds.
The play area is easily removeable so even the youngest babies can enjoy the lights and sound. It’s a good prop for tummy time. Once baby can sit up, they can play with it attached to the walker.
The funniest thing about this toy is that the removable phone is NEVER attached to the walker. Both kids loved to take off the phone and play with it separately. It makes a fun rattle.
The flower wheels are fun to spin around. “The flowers spin in the sun!” Whoo Whoo Whoo Whoooooooo!

There are 5 piano keys at the bottom that play music, but often, the voice interrupts with some annoying song. The animal noises are pretty funny though in learning mode. Listening to that poor horse whinny 4 times is always amusing. The keys also say do re mi fa so and talk about animal sounds (i.e. the horse neighs 4 times…).
The three shapes at the top are attached and it is a lot of fun to try to put them back in their spots. There are buttons in the middle that light up and help teach numbers and colors. There are lots of different songs and sounds on here. Cocoa Puff really loves to try to put those back in their slots.
The walker is very stable. The wheels work great on all surfaces. It even works well in the grass or on the driveway, although I can see it having trouble in gravel.
The walker needs 2 AA batteries. It is also very easy to put together. The legs just pop in. VTech says this is intended for babies 9 months-3 years. We started playing with it a lot younger than that… probably at around 3 months with both boys, or once they started showing interest in trying to sit/lean on things. The lights and sounds were attention grabbers to distract them during tummy time. I would also say 3 years is very high. Froot Loop stopped playing with this before he turned 2. He also learned to walk at a very early age, so maybe that is part of why he stopped enjoying it. Cocoa Puff still loves it at 13 months, and even though he can walk (and run!) by himself now, he still likes to push this around sometimes. Froot Loop has no interest in it at all, although if he happens to find the phone lying around, he will put it back in the walker.
The removable play panel means babies can play with it at a lot younger age. The two different levels of wheel resistance make it easy for babies just learning to pull up and take a few steps but then allows for faster walking with less resistance as they get better at it. There are a lot of activities for young babies and toddlers to enjoy.
The only bad thing about this is that OH. MY. GOSH. IT. DOES. NOT. SHUT. UP. Also, the little barn door falls off way too easily. I can't tell you how many times I've put that thing on there. I also don’t like that the music interrupts whatever activity you are doing, but this is characteristic of a lot of VTech toys.
This is a good toy to have to encourage sitting, pulling, standing, and walking, otherwise, it’s pretty annoying. It takes a LONG time to shut off and it gets very distracting when it interrupts what you’re doing to play an annoying song. Frankly, I will never hear “turkey in the straw” the same ever again.
What tricks/toys did you use to encourage your kiddos to stand and walk?
