Review of this Buckwheat Cushion I use during Yoga or While Playing on the Floor

I have extremely tight hips, especially after my last pregnancy. I can barely sit in lotus position for any length of time anymore. I thought I would try this buckwheat cushion to sit on to try to get deeper into those seated poses, plus it gives us an extra "seat" in the living room. Both of the boys love to sit on it or crawl on it too.

This cushion is heavy at over 4 pounds as it is filled with buckwheat. The cover is removable and washable, but make sure to dry it by air only. Do not put it in the dryer. I’ve already had to wash it a couple times and it’s still fine.

The cushion is very comfortable. It is a great height and it keeps its shape, even when my big ol’ butt is on it. It does not squish or squnch up like foam or polyester pillows and cushions do. If you need the cushion to be a smaller height, you could always remove some buckwheat from the cushion. There is another pouch in there with a zipper that comes undone and the buckwheat is in there. You could also add more buckwheat if you really needed to.

The buckwheat has a slight smell, but I honestly didn't notice it after a few days.

The cushion fabric is nice, too. It is a good color and it is a sturdy, thick fabric. I love that it is removable if it gets dirty. The zipper has held up well so far. I also like the little handle so I can easily pick it up and carry it around with me.

Overall, I love using this pillow. It allows me to get deeper into seated poses. It makes sitting in lotus position a lot more comfortable. It also is just fun to sit on. My kiddos love it too. I’ve been able to sit next to Cocoa Puff when he’s on his nap mat so when he stirs, I’m right there.

My only complaint, and it really is not the fault of the cushion I suppose, is that my ankle falls asleep if I stay in lotus position for too long. I am not sure if this is my fault or what.

Have you ever used one of these?

I've never heard of this type of cushion but it looks super comfortable and a great addition to a kids room. I'll have to check this out!

I could definitely use that cushion! I love laying on the floor! :)

Ohh, I've never heard nor seen a buckwheat cushion pillow before, but it sounds like a good option for an office chair additional padding/cushion. The one I have at work is a donut pillow that I snagged from Dave & Buster's many moons ago!

I've never used one but it looks awesome!!! We've been looking for a bean bag type seat so I'll definitely be looking into this as an alternative!!! Thank you for sharing.

I too have tight hips and I always need to loosen up before my lotus position and that loosen up took me at least 15 mins. Glad to learn about this cushion and hope to get one.

We have something like this in Japan. I don't own any buckwheat pillows but I am willing to try it.

Glad to hear it is so comfy! I've never used a pillow beyond sleeping but my mom may like this!

I need to give this a try. I also have tight hips and sometimes find that impedes with my ability to get a good stretch or into the correct position. I also think it would be great for work. Those office chairs can be so uncomfortable.

I need to have this cushion with me because after giving birth from my two kids I can no longer sit in a long hour most especially if you are a working mom.

This sounds like a really ideal product for people who do Yoga. The review you gave was really thorough and it definitely seems like a great product.

This is a new to me. I'm not much into Yoga but I do spend a vast amount of time on the floor with the children. So this may be a great alternative than sitting on the floor.

We've never heard of this cushion, but would love to try to use it during our next yoga class.
