Sand just isn't for Beaches: A Week of Sensory Bins, Day 3

Summer may be over and I may not be planning any more trips to the beach for now, but I found a way for my kiddos (and for me!) to keep playing with sand all year round!
Yep, you guessed it! This is a sand sensory bin. No, it's not beach sand. It's kinetic sand!
Awww, look how much fun he's having!
Cocoa Puff immediately wanted to play "construction trucks" with the sand. I have to say, the kinetic sand was PERFECT for these little trucks!
First, all of the trucks had to be lined up before work. Cocoa Puff wanted to make a mountain for the trucks to work on.
Yep, all ready to go to work!
Up the mountain they go!
Such concentration! He really knew how to make each truck do what it's supposed to do. Plus, it's really funny hearing him say "Excavator."
We took a little break from construction to play with some sandcastles too!
These are the little sandcastle molds we put in the bin. Again, this sand was perfect for them!
Okay, back to work! "Bulldozer's gonna bulldoze! Scooper's gotta scoop! Excavator's gonna excavate! Loader is loading!"
For awhile, we had both the trucks and the sandcastles in the bin. I would build the sandcastles and Froot Loop would bulldoze them away!
He really had those trucks hard at work!
Those little hands were perfect for those little trucks and little molds and the really cool sand.
I think we played with this bin for over an hour. I love this sweet pic Honey Graham took for us.
Even when I needed to go work on some other things, Cocoa Puff was totally happy just playing with his box of sand and trucks.
Here is the kinetic sand I bought. I will TOTALLY buy more because this stuff is amazing! It's soft, it's super flexible, and you can really make some killer sandcastles with it!
So much fun! And so easy! The kinetic sand was a little more expensive than what I usually put in the sensory bins, but I'll tell you, it was totally worth it.
When was the last time you made a sandcastle? (and where was it?)
Comments
The last time I build a sand castle was a couple of years ago in Weston-super-mare :)
Children will love it really
