This is the Closest I'll ever Get to Swimming in an Fish Tank: Week of Sensory Bins, Day 4

Both of the boys are pretty fascinated by fish. We have three goldfish going on 2 years old that we won at a Halloween carnival! Every time we visit an aquarium or zoo, we always have to spend extra time with the fishes.

I thought I'd bring the aquarium home with us. Here's how I did it!

For the "base" of the bin, I just bought a small bag of rainbow aquarium gravel

I also put some aquarium gems in there!

What aquarium could be complete without aquarium plants? In they went...

Then, I found these adorable plastic mini goldfish. They were a huge hit in the box.

First, he just wanted to pull out all of the plants and just feel the fish and the rocks.

He spent several minutes just TOUCHING everything. I told him those are the same kinds of rocks that our three goldfish have in their tank. He was pretty happy with this.

After a while, I remembered I had these really cute wooden fish qubes by Hape. I put those in there as well for something different. I gave him a set of tongs and let him go to town!

They are very brightly colored and just a different texture, so they were a welcome addition to the sensory box. After we were done with the bin, he just sat and played with the wooden fish qubes for awhile.

All in all, I call this one a success!

What's your favorite fish? (to eat or to look at!)

What a fun idea! You could probably add those squishy gel balls to it, too! Or add some of them to a sensory bag filled with hair gel! So many ways to change it up!

Omg you are so creative. Your boys must be so lucky to have fun arts and crafts to play with. I personally wouldn't have an aquarium either but this is a great idea
