Refriger-iffic: This is the perfect start or addition to your pretend play food kitchen sets.

We love Melissa and Doug products. Their play food is so amazing. It's so durable and well made. The kids have a blast with them.
Melissa and Doug has several pretend food sets. We have the cans (see post HERE), the pantry set, as well as this one and some other ones. This one is a set of food for the refrigerator
This fun set is all made of wood and each piece is hand-painted. There’s nine pieces including butter, milk, orange juice, bologna, swiss cheese, yogurt, frozen veggies, frozen waffles, and ice cream! Each piece has a bright, colorful, vivid label too.
These are fun for sorting, patterns, letter recognition, beginning reading, color recognition, grouping, and more.
We like to sort by fridge vs. freezer, by color, by shape, size, and by food group. Sometimes I try to get sneaky and ask which foods we can eat for breakfast, but on more than one occasion, the ice cream container has made it into that group! Silly boy. We’ve also worked on nutrition, grouping the items into healthy and unhealthy foods.
When all else fails, they’ve been used as stacking blocks!
The set pairs very well with Melissa and Doug kitchens as well as other kitchens. They also go well with other play food sets, whether Melissa and Doug, other brands, or homemade. We’ve played with this set by itself, which was a lot of fun, and we’ve played with it mixed in with all of our other play kitchen sets.
This set is sturdy and durable. I’ve had some pieces thrown at me, and I’ll tell you, these pieces are so solid, they left a mark! The paint has stayed on with very minimal chipping or peeling. I’m very impressed, but of course, I should just expect this from Melissa and Doug products!
This is a great starter set or an addition to your play kitchens! They can be used to play grocery store, restaurant, house, kitchen, and so much more!
Do you ever eat ice cream for breakfast?
