Pantry Raid! Here a Review for Melissa & Doug's Wooden Play Food For Those Pretend Kitchens!

This week, we have a double helping of Melissa and Doug play food products.
I have written about other Melissa and Doug play food sets HERE, HERE}(http://www.mamawritesreviews.com/post/350/can-it), [HERE, HERE, and HERE. We have a lot of play food and it gets played with just about every day. There's also an awesome set of DISHES and PANS.
This 9 piece wooden set of dry goods includes tuna, ketchup, spaghetti, soup, sugar, crackers, salad dressing, mustard, and cereal. They are heavy. Froot Loop has thrown the soup can at me (don’t ask why… he’s 5…) and it HURT! The paint is still in great shape and the pieces are holding up fantastically.
The specially created art on each food container mimics the look of real everyday groceries, so kids will recognize the shapes and labels with no reading required. Like the best of those everyday packages, the pieces in this set feature bright colors, lively illustrations, and stylized text--all on a smaller scale that’s easier for kids to manage physically. Rich in detail and crafted of sturdy wood, the pieces can also easily be used as creative learning manipulatives, as children sort, compare, count, group, and spot similarities and differences among the various packages.
I have asked Froot Loop and Cocoa Puff to bring me specific groceries. I have also asked them to bring me all the yellow boxes or the red cans. He has built neighborhoods with these as well. He even pretends to bake and cook by adding sugar and other ingredients to a bowl and using a spatula to mix them all up! He’s going to be so much fun to cook with.
These pieces go very well with the other sets and also in both of our play kitchens. (we have THIS one and one like THIS](asin:B01068G5IQ) one). They can also absolutely be played with without any sort of kitchen either.
They make a great starter set OR a good add on to any child’s play food collection.
